So, y'all know about my shoe fetish, right? Well, the bane of my existence - and the existence of any woman who both loves high heels and drives - is the dread black heel. Even if the floor mats of your car are clean, you will get the black heel, because the carpet rubs the leather, or deposits miniscule flecks of dirt. My very favorite shoes, my ( Read more... )

J'adore shoes, too! I'm a sky-high heels kinda gal, myself. I've been having a blast with the warm weather and wearing my strappy brown Aldos and my brand-new black faux-crocskin Kenneth Cole opentoes with the silver heel (SO COMFY!). The problem with working in SoHo is I pass by about five shoe stores at least twice a day. I have been SO tempted by these adorably retro Nine West peeptoes (navy and white pinstripes with cork heels - they make me want to search for a snood to gather up my Veronica Lake hair for when me and Jilly go to the USO dance to meet some sailors after our shift at the factory).

I'd suggest we have a shoe-off, but I suspect you'd trounce me.

Heh. I doubt it. My problem is that I'm...frugal. :-) I mean, I had no problem paying $50 for the SWs, but more than that, even for a terrific pair of shoes, is a little more than I like to spend. I love the clearance stores (and we have a bunch here) and DSW.

You're frugal, I'm broke. We might be evenly matched after all. :)

"Frugal," in my case, also means "Not quite broke, but not flush enough to think $200 for a pair of shoes is affordable, and don't even THINK about the Christian Loutoutins, because you will never be able to afford even the insole."

Yeah, I splurge every now and again, but my idea of a "designer shoe" (if it's not on a fashion blog, where it's free to look and covet) is Steve Madden or Kenneth Cole.

And I wear my shoes OUT, yo. My shoe repair guy is awesome, so I've been able to keep seasonal heels going for up to five years.

Yeah - even Steve Madden is often a little pricey for me, which is where the clearance stores come in - we have them in Nordstrom, Saks, Needless-Markup (which I still can't afford, even at 70% off, though I DID get a $1200 pair of Armani pants there for $60 once), and even Dillards varieties fairly close by.
