I'm listing Lucius for sale tomorrow. (Lucius, for those who don't know, is the name I gave to my car, a 2006 Buick Lucerne.) I need to wash the exterior, but the interior needs no more than a sweep and he's good to go. Dad is all for going with me car shopping. I haven't told Joe yet that I'm going with Dad. Heck, he bought his stupid, ugly, old, expensive truck without any input from me. I see no reason to consult him for my car purchase. Dad still gets Car & Driver, and still pays a lot of attention to the auto industry - as well he might, working in it for more than 40 years.

I don't think Lucius will sell quickly though. How many people are in the market for two-year-old luxury car that doesn't get very good gas mileage? Even if it IS in extremely good condition?

When he DOES sell, I'm hoping to replace him with Vlad the Younger - an '07 or '08 Impala LT. (I had an '00 Impala LS named Vlad (Vlad the Impala) - my favorite car ever - which Joe totalled two years ago.) I've seen a couple low-mileage ones on cars.com for less than $13K, which is pretty much what I want to come in at for the new car.
