So, more than two months ago, the contractors came out and started digging our pool. And we were told that it would be finished sometime around February 8th. Now, I thought that was kind of ambitious, but what do I know? Another pool company is promising a finished pool in fifteen days, so it's not THAT out of the realm of possibility. In case you didn't look at a calendar or the date above this post, today is March the 20th.

They dug the pool, lined it with steel rebar, put in piping for the in-floor cleaning system, and whatnot. They built the enclosure for the pool equipment. They tore down the enclosure for the pool equipment when it was discovered the Joe's design left it a little too close to the spa enclosure to fit the spa in...

And then everything pretty much ground to a halt. On February 17th, we bought a spa, figuring we'd get it in in three weeks or so. Nope - it's still at the store. The blockwork for the retaining wall had to be torn out and redone. The blockwork for the foundation of the ramada had to be torn out and redone. But we only had workers there, it seemed, once a week. The electrician was scheduled half a dozen times before he actually showed up. Then the block guy got pneumonia. So these things took AGES to complete.

But things are picking up! The pool is being shot-creted today! The concrete forms for pouring the ramada and the bases of the enclosures are being laid! The tile guys are scheduled! In about two weeks, I SHOULD have both a functioning pool AND spa in which to relax my ever-expanding bulk.

It's about bloody time.
