I was wondering who this prompt belonged to! I wouldn't have touched it usually, but I've been reading 'Life's That Way', but Jim Beaver which makes me cry something like every third page... I'm glad I was able to inflict a similar response onto you :p

I have a horrible love for 'your momma' jokes :D

I love that your Matt and Cory aren't Will and Finn.

That's always the toughest thing about attempting RPF.

I always worry that I'm too hard on Matthew. I love the guy to bits, but it's just so much more interesting giving him issues and annoying personality traits.

What annoying personality traits?

Because from where I'm sitting, being a prankster and telling inappropriate 'your mom' jokes are totally things that go in the win column for potential boyfriends.

Okay, only if they can sing and dance and have Matt's amazing abs and smile.

The inability to tell people things is the main one - my boyfriend has a mild form of that particular disease, and it drives me up the wall. And I have a bad case of 'use humour to avoid talking about serious things', which is really annoying when people just want to sit down and talk about things. I have another RPF that I'm sitting on because it wouldn't behave, and in that one I've amped up the idea that his very charming personality is mainly an act to make it easier to deal with people.

The guy is just too good to be true - I gotta break him a little or else I just can't write him. The fics would be all: "And then Matt listened patiently to Cory's identity crisis, and told him it was fine, and he also smiled which was a beautiful thing because every time Matthew smiles a kitten is born. (Also his eyes are the colour of an angry ocean. A green kind of angry ocean. And he smells like Christmas cookies.) The end."

Oh wow. That's such an amazing story. It always hard dealing with things like cancer. But Corys point of view mixed with the humor was a great balancing act.

I loved how you tackled this. It was really true to form and just amazingly heartbreaking.

I've been reading 'Life's That Way' by Jim Beaver (reading it slowly, because it's a heart breaker), so I took some inspiration on how to write about cancer from that. I'm glad that there were some funny moments in there :)

You did it perfectly. Talking from personal experience, sometimes the worst moments need humor otherwise you'll totally breakdown.

It's the your mom stuff I swear. It makes my inner boy cackle with glee.

sorry, no time to leave a real comment other than I read, it, loved it, thanks for writing a Winnners story. And when Matt said he knew something was up at the Tony's, I swear to God my thought was, "Matt WAS out of breath during his number!" Which he really did seem to be, but for a moment there i found myself taking your story seriously. I'm a dumb ass. And my husband is glaring at me for still being on the computer, so bye!

Thank you for the drive-by-commenting. His Tonys number amazes me because he sounds like he needs an inhaler and a lie down one moment, and then he's belting out this epic long note and not wavering at all the next. His lungs have superpowers, or something.

This thing keeps spitting up more and more typos - I'll have another read through and hopefully get the last of them :/

And I'm not at all offended that you didn't enjoy reading this - RPF is one of those weird valleys where it's a lot harder to say 'this is about fictional characters' because, well, it's about your interpretations of real people. So I can understand where you're coming from, and with different fandoms I'm in the same position as you. I guess I should say that you for reading it despite this :)
