Summary: Finn finds traces of Will everywhere.
You find one of Will’s shirts in your laundry.
You wash it and fold it and stack it like it belongs to you. But when you get home, you take it out to look at. You tell yourself it means nothing, just a slip up, but your haven’t successfully convinced yourself of anything.
You wear it under your own shirt the next day.
You find his songs on your ipod.
You took it running with you, and suddenly one of his songs plays and you have to stop because there’s nothing like inappropriate musical reminders to break you into gooey, little pieces.
You place the machine next to your laptop, swearing that you’ll remove the songs when the time is right.
There’s never a right time.
You buy his favourite cereal without even noticing.
It sits in your pantry, unopened, for far too long, until you realise that you’ll have to eat it before it goes out of date. You pour too much in an oversized bowl before you realise that it tastes like cardboard.
You eat the whole pack.
You find him sitting on the front steps of your apartment.
You want to ignore him, want to drive on, completely forget that you ever saw him there. Instead you park your car and walk up to him, arranging an expression somewhere between boredom and anger on your face.
He stands when he sees you, and he looks like he hasn’t slept in months. You walk past him, but you can’t prevent the relief that fills you when he understands that he’s supposed to follow you.
You wake to an empty bed.
You can feel the warmth in the sheets where he was laying and you can smell him on the pillow. You can hear the ghost of the bedroom door closing behind him. You can feel the swelling of your lips where he kissed too hard.
You dress slowly, without even noticing that you put your shirt on backwards.
He’s waiting for you in the kitchen.
