everyone deserves a little happiness
Since the end of the year is coming up, I decided to start preparing for my annual "End of the Year/Graduating" mixes for all my friends. From the top of my head, last year's looked something like:
Explosions in the Sky (A song for our fathers, remember me as a time of day)
Sleater Kinney, (Oh! One Beat)
Rusted Root, (Drum Beat, Ecstasy)
Radiohead, (Packt Like Sardines, Hunting Bears, a few others i think)
Maria Callas (Ave Maria)
The Smiths (Panic, Frankly Mr Shankly)
...and I cannot remember who/what else. I tried to choose songs that were reflective of the year all round. This year though...(blank)... since everybody's senior year seems to have been so drastically different from the other, and for the most part is relatively unimpressive (as i'm friends with a number of losers admirable individuals including myself, who take their education seriously...this semester notwithstanding) I decided to just make a mix of awesome songs that will make people happy. Afterall, everyone deserves a little happiness in their lives.
So far, this is what my mix looks like:
1. The Talking Heads- "Once in a Lifetime"
2. The Dresden Dolls- "Good Day"
3. Bloc Party- "Banquet"
4. Bloc Party- "She's Hearing Voices"
5. Bloc Party- "This Modern Love"
6. Blonde Redhead- "This Is For Me and I Know Everyone Knows"
7. The Shins- "When You Notice the Stripes"
8. The Shins- "Caring is Creepy"
9. Sleater Kinney- "Write Me Back, Fucker"
10. Sleater Kinney- "One Beat"
11. Sleater Kinney- "Dig Me Out"
12. Sonic Youth- "Drunken Butterfly"
13. The Unicorns- "Tuff Ghost"
14. Blur- "Sweet Song"
15. Blur- "Jets"
16. Blur- "Battery in Your Leg"
17. Travis- "Love Will Come Through"
Okay, so some songs never change, but all the same I am very proud of this mix. I hope that my friends think similiarly!
