I admit didn't treat Jen very well when we were dating. I didn't hit or anything, it's just I didn't make a very good boyfriend. I was worried about the band and keeping it together, keeping it going. The band was more important than my relationship with her. I wouldn't listen to anything she had to say about us, I wouldn't let her write any songs. When we broke up the band stayed together. Jen and I still hung out and traveled on the road together.
It caused a lot of problems with my next ex-girlfriend.. an actress in a regularly scheduled space alien tv show with low budget sets and props. She broke up with me by hitting me in the head with a beer bottle she threw from the back of the crowd at one of our shows. She did the same thing when my manager broke up with her. Knocked him out from across the room with a flying beer bottle. Just FYI guys - don't piss her off.
I never stopped caring for Jen. I know I wasn't the best boyfriend in the world, but being around her all the time didn't help me move on. Even when we were seeing other people I'd think about her. A couple years later... ok almost 10, we became vampires and sort of by default we're a couple again. She's the Bass Player and became the unofficial face of the band, at least in the media.. and every one just assumed we were together so we play to it. We are far from the perfect couple, we still have our problems, like having to go home with different people in order to feed, but together we can handle anything.
