WWIII - First Hour

Nov 21, 2010 17:40

He looked at the TV not wanting to believe it. How could this have happened? How could people act this way. Weren't they so far removed from the savagery of the past? Weren't they suppose to be better than this? I mean seriously... isn't that something his country prided themselves on... being above all that foolishness?

He sipped his microwaved bag of blood and watched as the reporter told his the video she was about to show was disturbing, small children should be hurried away from the room but of course before anyone with a child had the time to even stand the screen blinked and he felt a pang of hunger and took a deeper drink. He had enough time to wonder if all vampire reacted the same way to such cruelty, hungry. “I am vampire. I am only happy when something dies” the bartender had told him once, two years ago now, so maybe they did. And that would only make things worse. If all the vampires were now salivating at the disaster around them, there would only be more dead. More chaos. Christ, no wonder he along with his band had been turned purely for amusement of the older vampire Queeny. It had been a long time since something like this happened and he must had been bored stupid.

He turned the TV off and picked up the phone. Jen answered and he asked her to get a hold of Hugo, they should get to the bar, he didn't have to tell her which one, he would call Sam and Tyler and tell them the same thing. No side trips, no feeding on the way. There were too many cameras right now covering the rioters. He stopped long enough to automate his music archive back up to run for the next couple weeks, send this months files to the music library then completely shut down.

At the bar the surprisingly well behaved patrons who remained and the 6 vampires had crowded around the only tv, watching as world war three broke out.

He looked at the bartender. “What do we do?” “Is this why you guys are here?” “Yeah.” “I thought you guys were going to play a set.” He smiled Hugo gave a nervous laugh. “This isn't going to be like the titanic is it?” The bartender shrugged “You never know. As long as the warheads don't launch we should be find.” “Warheads?” “no more humans means no more food, Hugo.” The nervous Frenchman turned to Jen “Come on... you promised.” The Bartender looked back to him “You guys gonna play or what? We'll talk about what to do next when it's time to do something else, right now there's not a whole lot we can do.”

“Yeah sure. Hugo, Sam? You guys want to help me with the gear?”

((Open to anyone, just walk into the bar to join in.))
