Remembered from my old Em & Lo era Nerve personals profile

Dec 28, 2010 15:55

Back in the day before Nerve went to shit their personals services was run by Spring Tree instead of Fast Cupid.
Back then it was pay per contact instead of of a flat monthly fee (which is great for someone as picky as I am), wasn't over moderated, and allowed options for nontraditional relationships and NSA hookups.

One of the questions was a fill in the blank format.

"(blank) is sexy, (blank) is sexier"

I filled out mine as thus: "Control is sexy, Losing control is sexier"

I can't remember the last time I was willing to give control to anyone. *sigh*

Last time I logged into that profile to update it which was a few months ago the only relationship options available were "short term dating" and "long term relationship". Yeah... I going to have to look into closing my profile and getting the money I invested years ago for credits (back when it was still Spring Tree) back.

Nerve itself has turned into Match.com with a hipster sheen. Not that I have anything against hipsters but the hip trappings don't disguise the fact that the content is safer, and more mainstream and conservative then it use to be.

Most of the dating sites are just over saturated (okcupid aka you get what you don't pay for), too traditional (match.com, eHarmony) or brainless meat markets (adultfriendfinder, Alt).
I've yet to find a place that's as unapologetically sexual, intellectual and boundary pushing like Nerve used to be. *sigh*
