This week I died a horrible death, but last night around 8pm I reached a turning point: I can now breathe through my nose again! This was a very exciting turn of events. And that shows you how pathetic I was last week.

So you know how last week was my last week working at the library? Well, I worked a grand total of 12.5 hours (you know, out of a normal 40-hour work week) due to the fact that sometime over the course of last weekend I developed bronchitis, and then around Tuesday got a sinus infection or something on top of that. Not fun, let me tell you.

I had bronchitis before (during the first week of my senior year at Bryn Mawr; I have such wonderful timing whenever I get sick) and that experience made me wish to never have bronchitis again. Alas. Wishes apparently don't work. Let me just tell you all once again: never ever get bronchitis. It is evil. And I do not recommend it at all. If you know anyone who has it, run far far away from them.

So I made it through 7 hours of Monday, then was off on Tuesday and Wednesday. Made it into the doctor's office on Wednesday afternoon and got some anti-biotics for the secondary infection and was recommended to pick up some Mucinex to cough the bronchitis out of me. So I dragged myself into work on Thursday morning, whereupon my supervisor Kathleen took one look at me and immediately wanted to send me home (I did look rather gross). However, our boss was in a meeting and no one else could come in, so since I was already there and in somewhat working condition (though not looking my best obviously and also sounding rather croaky) we decided that I would just work until Kathleen was finished with storytime and then I could go home. But actually I didn't get out of there until noon, while Kathleen got everything cleared for me with HR, who I had to have my doctor send a note to since it's my last week and all. Then I just had to go in on Friday to clear out, so I dragged myself in for two hours in the afternoon, picked up a couple cards and goodies, packed up my desk, and was done. All very anticlimactic and strange due to the fact that I wasn't there most of the week.

Still, I can breathe through my nose now. And that is a very wonderful thing. I ♥ my nose.

work: sbpl, cough, nose, sick
