Victory!

I can finally get into the class website I was whingeing about the other day! On my own computer! \o/

See, I tried logging on at work today (also on Firefox) and that also let me in just fine (like the computer at the school lab), so I pondered the possible differences. And then I checked my email and had a comment notification wherein propinquitine nattered on about the perils of Firefox add-ons being disagreeable with finicky sites. And then I recalled seeing something to that effect (but for Internet Explorer add-ons) on the Ning help section (which is sooo not helpful). So I resolved to try another browser when I got home.

But I hate IE with a burning passion, and by extension I hate any website that makes me use IE with an equally burning passion, so instead I downloaded the Flock browser since it's based off of FF's code. I declined any add-ons and clicked on over to my class site where I logged in successfully!! \o/

This is still incredibly lame, though, as I don't have that many add-ons (like, maybe half a dozen) and their stupid unhelpful help section is hard to get to and not easily navigable and doesn't offer very much help. And I still haven't received anything besides an auto-reply from their help team, who I emailed on Tuesday.

Also, amusingly, Flock is apparently "the social web browser", which is to say it somehow is better tailored to social networking and Web 2.0 stuff (I haven't really explored it, though, since I'm only using it for the one class website). And this Ning site is a social networking site. So I'm glad they get along.

Why, yes, I am spending my Friday night fretting about classes and vanquishing stupidity. Because I am that lame.

internet, school: classes, computers, oh the cleverness of me!
