This one took, like, a month to get to me, I think. I mean, ILL is awesome and I don't think it's through any fault of theirs, but the difficulty I've had in coming up with just twelve picture books depicting homosexuality is sad. :(
Well, there are more than 12 picture books out there (though still not much), the main issue is the accessibility. Which isn't necessarily fixable. My professor used to head the youth services of the DC public libraries and she told me they used to get copies of Daddy's Roommate for their collections, but they kept disappearing. People who believe those books are wrong take them and "lose" them (and whether the taking is actually checking them out or outright stealing doesn't matter 'cause I can tell you from an insider's perspective, hardly anyone pays attention to those alarms at the door), and it's not financially feasible for them to keep buying new copies. They did have And Tango Makes Three and Uncle Bobby's Wedding at the public library, though, several copies even.
This makes me so very angry. So angry, in fact, that I did not feel that capslock could properly express my rage. See above comment about social change taking far longer than I wish. *glares*
