I am a girl of contradictions

I am the odd sort of person who simultaneously thinks thunderstorms are really cool (Ooh! Lightning! Shiny!) and wants to hide under the bed like a scared kitten (*meep*).

I am the same way with airplanes, because flying is so cool and yet also rather nerve-wracking. (This is perhaps the odder of my many contradictions because I am absolutely whole-heartedly geeky-in-love with early aviation and spaceflight.)

While I'm at it, I'll also admit that I love the sea and hate the beach.

And so I sit here in the dark (because, dude, this apartment has an awesome view for thunderstorms!) and sip some tea to keep the fear at bay.

(Also, this particular storm is kind of annoying in that it started out just lightning and no thunder, which renders the counting trick useless, and now there is thunder but lots of lightning, which also renders the counting trick useless since I can't tell which lightning goes with the thunder. I even actually knew the counting trick this time because I just looked it up for a fic the other day, and I am always forgetting.)

Crap, the thunder just got really loud. *meeeeeep!*
