Hahaha, it started raining just as I was getting off the Metro, and then as I walked out of the station it started POURING. I slopped back to the apartment building, dragged my thoroughly wet and bedraggled self up to the apartment, changed out of my soaking wet work pants, and then turned around to see SUNLIGHT streaming through the windows like I imagined the whole rain!splat. Oi.
Tomorrow is my last day at the NASM! Woe! I went out with a "Bang!" (as it were) today, though. I've been sitting in on weekly meetings for a team of curators and exhibit designers who are working on redesigning the "Pioneers of Flight" Gallery, and periodically I'd bring along cool and relevant things I found in the Archives. (This has actually been my favourite internly duty. It's so much fun to dig through the tech files and find nifty stuff that might be used in an exhibit!) So today I produced an autographed menu from a dinner in Atlantic City towards the end of Lindbergh's Guggenheim tour (the tour of the Lower 48 he did after returning from his transatlantic flight). Everyone at the meeting was very impressed and excited, and sad that I will no longer be around to whip out awesome things no one knew about. (And OMG I touched something that Lindbergh touched!!! EEEEE!!!! *flails about*)
