One of the Smithsonian photographers was taking pictures of all the interns a few weeks ago, and he wanted "action" shots of us. Yeah, an archivist in action is not generally photographically interesting. Most of what I do is scanning and/or data entry on the computer. But I do have a few spread out-able projects, so I cobbled together some interesting oversized items I was supposed to process and here you go:

Bottom left corner is a couple movie posters in French of MST3k-worthy [
American] [
films] from the 1950s/60s. The stuff I'm looking at and scribbling notes about is a bunch of old issues of Collier's magazine. Please note my snazzy archivist white gloves. :)
Speaking of Collier's, picture this from the April 30, 1954 issue: a lovely 1950s-style painting illustration of a man and woman snuggled up in a hammock with some lush green foliage in the background. The caption reads:
The nun stood on the bridge looking at them.
“I hate having somebody spy on me,” he said.
I so want to read that story. Cold War spy nuns! Alas, the curator who tore out the article was only interested in the space article and so there is no next page. Woe. :(
In other news, I love my new apartment. I randomly twirl and caper about because there is space and it is lovely and I am happy. :)
