Oh, come now...

I had another crazy person encounter today!

Okay, she was more randomly interested in opinion-based stuff than trying to find out actual personal facts about me, but still. Yeesh.

See, I was riding the bus to work this morning, and usually I read because having your nose in a book deters most people from randomly talking to you (and also because, you know, I like to read), but it was raining this morning and therefore I didn't want to get my book wet (insanely protective book geek here), so I was just staring out the window and daydreaming.

The woman sitting next to me was reading a paper for twenty minutes (it's a long ride) before randomly muttering something. It took me a minute to realize she was talking to me and then I had to ask her to repeat the question twice because she was a low talker, and it turned out she was asking my opinion on who I thought was going to win American Idol.

I replied that I don't follow that show, to which she asked "Really?" about half a dozen times and seemed to think I was a special kind of un-American freak when I confessed to not watching any reality shows at all because I don't like them. Then she asked why I don't like reality shows, which I kind of floundered at because, really, I just don't like them. And then there are so many different kinds of reality shows, all of which I don't like for different reasons. I mean, some of them are okay enough I guess, but they're not my cup of tea. But for the most part, they're reality shows. I don't need to watch TV to see people being petty and cruel; it happens every day, all around. I really don't need to see more of that.

After several more murmurs of incredulity, she then switched to politics. At which point, I was sorely tempted to throw myself off the bus at the next stop. Sadly, I was already running a tad late and was not wearing good walking/sprinting shoes, so I had to stick it out. Thankfully she returned to reading her paper after I made a few vague comments.

When did I become a crazy person magnet? (Of the sketchy-crazy variety; I love all my crazy-awesome friends. ♥)

people, tv
