My boss was away today, so I had to do bookshifting. (My options when she's away are to take the days off or work for someone else, which 99.9% of the time means bookshifting. I need the money, so bookshifting it is!)
Besides being strenuous on weird muscles (like the muscles between your fingers, for instance) and also not happy for my back (it's uncomfy when my back isn't already hurting; but my back was already hurting this week, so it was even more fun), the really old books that I touch make my hands all dry and gross for some reason. And, you know, coated in grimy old dust since they aren't heavily used books. And I got some random splinter-type thing in one of my pinky fingers. (Which is weird since there was no wood involved in the bookshifting.)
Also, yesterday I got about a dozen papercuts from the archival boards I was working with. It was weird 'cause I didn't feel any of them, but I kept looking and spotting yet another papercut.
And those are some of the perils of libraries/archives you probably didn't know about. :)
In conclusion: teeeeeeaaaaaa + piiiilllloooowwwwwwwwwwssss = ♥
