Yeah, so I forgot to check the weather last night, and apparently it was supposed to rain today. And me with neither umbrella nor raincoat. Thankfully it wasn't raining on my way IN to work (because it would have really sucked to sit around the library wet all day [not to mention they would probably have frowned upon wetness in the library]). But of course it was POURING when I left. And of course there's no shelter within a mile of the bus stop. So, needless to say, I got soaked. My hair was dripping, my peacoat was damp, my shoes and socks were uncomfortably wet (also, was not wearing good rainy day shoes; I hope they survive), and my glasses were all rain-splattered and foggy.
Some kind soul offered me the shelter of their umbrella 3 seconds before the bus came, but at that point I'd already been in the rain for about ten minutes, so it wouldn't have made much difference anyway. Once on the bus, I was at least no longer standing in the rain. But I was still soaking wet, so still not a happy camper. After several minutes, the tiny tendrils of hair on top of my head (which I HATE because they always stick up and make me look messy) started drying, which kind of tickled and reminded me of
JFlan's hair (except, of course, my hair is not as awesome), which made me giggle. Yay SGA for amusing me in the midst of a bad mood. Sadly, the amusement was short-lived as I soon realized that the unpleasant dead fish smell I'd been wondering about was, in fact, emanating from my own coat. WHY does my coat smell like dead fish???
The rain let up while I was on the bus, but, again, I was already uncomfortably wet. I finally arrived back at the house (without killing myself on the slippery leaves!) looking and feeling (and smelling!) like something the cat dragged in. Changed into dry clothes, hung my smelly coat in the basement to dry, got some food, plunked down at my desk (which is blissfully located right in front of the heating vent), watched JFlan's hair, and managed to get myself into a somewhat better mood.
Except now I have to get back to work on my stupid "user needs analysis" project. Boo.
Ooh, I'll make some tea first. Tea always helps things seem less awful.
