Project Azuki Part 1: Upp Thomson and Sembawang

Oct 24, 2010 22:55

In order to show Azuki-chan what the big big world outside looks like, I jio-ed my great buddy Deb to join me in moving away from the MRT line on PROJECT AZUKI.

Today, Azuki braved the heavy rain and brought 2 hungry souls to Upp Thomson to have Hakka Ampang Yong Tau Foo. While having our yummy lunch, Deb brought up a few intellectual questions, haha:

1) So if Upp Thomson's Ampang YTF comes in brown gravy and Katong's Ampang YTF comes in clear gravy, what kind of YTF do we get when we go to Ampang?

2) Are people in Ampang mostly Hakka? Is Hakka people's hometown called Hakka? (And we started to recall TCS 8's drama - 客家之歌)

3) Are Thomson Road and Upp Thomson Road linked or totally separate from each other?

Anyone who has answers to the above are free to respond =D

I also had my crispy prata at The Prata House. I love crispy pratas. And the just-nicely-sweet teh tarik *slurppp*

After lunch, we decided to explore Sembawang and this led us to discover a big gem in Singapore!!! Esprit Outlet in Sembawang Shpping Centre *taadaa* But this discovery was not without great obstacles and challenges, ie. turning a few rounds in Yishun and not finding Sembawang. For a moment, it felt like Bermuda Triangle, haha. Well, we passed NorthPoint but the point is... we don't want NorthPoint! Our perseverance finally parid off when we decided to stop Gambas Ave from tricking us ;p Destination reached.

1st stop in SSC: Daiso

We went into Daiso because I wanted to buy to buy those hooks which I can attach to my car seats to hang stuff. However we couldn't find it after browsing through a few lanes. So I put on my thinking cap, stood in front of the shelf, randomly picked up a packet of unknown stuff in an attempt to demostrate and said to Deb:

Me (confidently): Ok Deb, tell you what, now your task is to help me find  the hook I want. Very easy, find a packet like this (holding to the one in my hand and pointing to it) and see if they show a picture of the back of the car seat. Sure have one, then we'll know we found it.

Deb: Okok (and we both shifted our line of sight to the sample in my hand)

Me: Eh?!

Deb: Eh?!! (in a higher pitch)

Me: Eh?!!! (in a even higher pitch)

The packet in my hand contained a black plastic hook and I pointed to a picture of the back of a car seat. Duh (-_-III)

2nd stop in SSC: Esprit Outlet

Turned out that there was no 3rd stop cuz we spent all our time there, haha. And we were glad we did cuz as Deb put it, we covered the 2 most (and only) happening stores in SSC. How come no one ever mentioned this Esprit Outlet to such a crazy Esprit fan like me? But surprise surprise, my buddy bought more stuff than me today. Shall kiv that huge shoulder bag for the moment, so those of you who are going there for shopping, pls don't buy any huge shoulder bag there k?

With that, our tour of Sembawang ended. Pretty fulfilling for a start to Project Azuki, I must say. Maybe with photos next time.
