Today has been a little bit rough. But I think everything is straightened up (besides my room, of course). I found out this afternoon that I needed one more Humanities or Fine Arts class to graduate this May. Fortunately, the last day to add a class is not until Thursday. At the moment I'm signed up for Espanol, en lunes, (martes es "virtual" ... en la computadora?)miercoles, uh... Thursday, and Friday at nueve en la manana. I'm rusty. hahahaha... Oh well. I got my majors straightened out. I'm officialy a Marine Science and Biology major (in that order, mind you) and am minoring in Geology (though I might not b/c the lady said i can't count marine geology towards the total number of geology hours. why? not sure, about that one). I went to dinner tonight with Gov. Winthrope. She came to trinity to pick me up and I drove her to Taco Bell. I guess she has very conservative views about appropriate gender roles. ;-) We had an enjoyable, but rushed meal. B/c we were low on time, I then drove her to some building behind Gordon Palmer where she turors athletes in French from 6:30-9:30 (or is it 9?). I walked back to Trinity after doing an incredibly bad job of parallel parking Gov. Winthrope's car. I sure hope it doesn't get hit. In my room I finally bought a book for paleoclimatology, decided on spanish as the humanity to take, took a phone call from Fred, posted comments on people's journals, wrote back the secretary of the University of Illinois' biology department who wrote earlier to tell me my application was incomplete, and that's about it. I'm about to work on my Bible study lesson for tomorrow night. Before I continue I think I'll post m y response to the UI biology dept. Here it is:
Hi Carol, thanks for letting me know. I'm sorry, but at this time I
don't think I'll be looking at UIUC for grad school. It just seems far
too cold. I was considering it when I was not sure if any schools
further to the south would want me, but several do. I have nothing but
respect for your institution. The fact that I would even consider
going to a school at such a disagreeable latitude speaks volumes to
how impressed I am with your department.
Have a marvelous day,
Nathan Putman
I need to do a whole lot actually, but I keep thinking of a certain person who's very distracting even when not present. I may write about this weekend some, it was very fun. I guess I can say a little. To start, practically the entire weekend was spent with Gov. Winthrope. I LOVED the whole time, but I'll share a few of the more "family friendly" stories... hahaha... I'm just kidding, it was all good clean fun. Really. Don't roll your eyes... really, it was.
Ok, Gov. Winthrope and I went for several walks by the Black Warrior river. We also (finally!) went to a graveyard to walk around. it was calvary baptists'. I enjoyed it. It made me a little sad though... thinking that I could have been doing that my SOPHOMORE year... sigh... We also watched "The princess bride" with Cash Money and Tyrone. I hadn't seen it all the way through before. It was really funny. After that we baked some chocolate-chocolate-chocolate cookies that tasted like wet sand. Oh, before that Gov. Winthrope read to me "Le Petite Prince" in French and then translated. I got to read a chapter to her. She told me my French is getting better, but I think she's just saying that to be nice. I wish we could have read the rest of the book. We might have been able to if I hadn't gotten on the phone with my mom and dad who talked to me about the exact same thing for 64084985 hours. Gov. Winthrope and I went to Michael's on monday night to get pottery supplies after eating at Barnhills. We walked around the river walk afterwards. Then we went back to her room and I sang her a gospel song. It was kinda weird. I don't sing very well. After that we watched some music videos and I kept her from getting homework done. I was not aware of this but as I was attempting to leave Gov. Winthrope told me I had a lot of "lines." That i must have a book full of things to say to girls. I never really thought of myself as someone who used lines on the ladies, but maybe i do. I usually just say things that make me laugh and seem somewhat appropriate (or inappropriate, depending on my mood...). Perhaps *I* will make a book of things I would say in certain situations...
anyway... gov. winthrope calls. i have little else to say.
