Oprea's got nothin on me bitches!
So anyway, I finished the book trilogy "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman Pretty damn good! the first book "The Golden Compass" (A movie deal was already made for these books and the first one will have this title coming soon!) was great! it introduces the characters well and it sets up a world where everyone has a familiar, or what they call a daemon. I am a huge fan of the familiar concept, always have, always will. lots of action and the story moves along at a very good pace.
Book two "The subtle Knife" its a bit slow at the begining but it picks up in the middle and we are introduced to the second main character another thing about it rather short but again moves the story along.
Book Three "The Amber Spyglass" Action packed book, lots of running around hopping from character to character very few lulls in the action the second to last chapter I found parallel to Star Wars Episode three with the corny "I love you, No I love you more" kinda thing going on, but its cute. then ending makes that there is a limitless potential to the future and only awsome and fun things await.
Story wise. Great stuff: Familiars, Talking animals, other demensionsm witches, guns, explosions, funny gadgets and gizmos past and present , religion bashing, even the dead make a cameo apperance! all the good things that make a fantasy adventure kick ass are cramed into these books, you may get a little lost as they throw a bunch of random characters in near the end that die off right quick and one such as myself may see a few of the deaths to be a little lame but hey, no ones perfect.
Over all I give "His Dark Materials " By Philip Pullman a B+ for lots of action and cool dynamic characters with the few random ones and the ocassional lame death Hurray Familiars!!
