Heres where we stopped this would have been a great story!
Cain’s smile faded as she moved her eyes back to the gates, she stood motionless as if paralyzed by a spell a cold chill running up her spine.
‘I have a bad feeling about this’ she thought as her heart began to pound in her ears. Rhyx placed her hand on the red haired human’s should and leaned in to whisper in her ear.
“Come on shadow gem, no matter what I am right by your side.” Cain relaxed as her lover’s words melted her fears away; she placed her hand on the gate and pushed on it. The large Iron gates groaned and creaked as they slowly opened, the pair moved passed the point of no return and began walking a long gravel pathway. Flanking either side of the path were large white marble statues of the greatest of the Masters family spanning generations.
Cain identified some of them to Rhyx as they walked by, like Jonas Masters, a Captain of the guard during the first war with the Orcs and Fredric Masters, a priest who helped found Stormwind. Cain stopped at one of the statues and smiled brightly.
“So who’s this? She kinda looks like you love.” Rhyx said playfully reaching up and groping the statue breast.
Cain kicked Rhyx in the rear and chuckled slightly “Behave!”
“Actually,” Cain sighed looking up at the face of the statue. “This is my Great, great, great, GREAT grandmother, Elizabeth Masters, she is the first woman in our family to set aside the staff of the priest and pick up the hammer of a paladin.”
“Rhyx whistled impressed as she looked the statue over again she stopped and read the engraving at the bottom of the statue “The power of the Light is indeed mighty, but there is something to be said about the power of the hammer.” “Wow, she sounds pretty tough.”
“She was” a voice said, the duo turned toward it to see a young man leaning aganst one of the statues. He was a tall man very tone with a healthy tan his dark hair accented his sparkling blue eyes and bright smile.
“DUNCAN!!” Cain shouted as she ran towards the young man, he stood with his arms open and picked Cain up spinning her around in a circle before putting her down and giving her a big hug. “How are you doing cousin mine it’s been a while.” He said laughing.
“Indeed it has Duncan, my word look at you, you haven’t changed a bit have you? OH! Rhyx come here and meet my cousin!” Cain motioned Rhyx over and she slowly moved her way toward them.
“Rhyx, this is my cousin Duncan Masters, Duncan this is my ah…friend… Rhyxalia Swiftwind….” Cain said stuttering nervously.
Rhyx curtsied “Ish’nu Alaha” She said Cain was surprised it was a rarity hearing Rhyx speak in her native tongue.
Duncan smiled and extended his hand “well, any friend of Cay’s is a friend of mine, welcome to the family compound” Rhyx took Duncan’s hand and smiled.
‘He’s a looker isn’t he?’ Rhyx thought looking over the young Paladin, ‘if they’re all this good looking, I may be in trouble after all.’ Cain jabbed Rhyx in the kidney and flashed her “the look” as if reading the Elf’s mind.
“Well, lets get going, were halfway to the main house and everyone is waiting to see you.” Duncan said as they began moving again.
“Wait…what do you mean, Main house…. and what’s your definition of everyone?” Cain said nervousness and fear leaked into her voice.
“Main house? How many houses are here?” Rhyx asked looking around “There are seven mansions besides the family Manor, what do you mean by everyone Duncan?”
“Eight Mansions?!?!” Rhyx shouted, she began to rub her hands together licking her lips ‘Oh, I could have a field day in here’ she though once again Cain jabbed the rogue in the kidney.
“Well, we wanted to surprise you Cay” Duncan said with a smile, but my mother decided to tell the entire family you were coming to visit and well, it sort of turned into a family event!”
Cain’s heart sank as the walked even thought she was pale already she turned three shades whiter ‘by the void!!’ she thought, ‘there ALL going to be there?!?…..Even…him?” Cain grew very silent and withdrawn as Duncan pointed out more of the statues and areas of the compound to Rhyx.
