So, I go on WoW (World of Warcraft) a couple days ago, and find out some kid, named Kevin (aka Birdd on WoW) committed suicide. He left a note on the WoW Uldum Forums and basically said "goodbye" and all that stuff. For a few posts, they were like, "OMG! Is this a joke!?" yadda yadda yadda... Then later, the leader of the guild (that Birdd was in) said that he called the police in the place Birdd lived in (supposedly Overland Park, Kansas), and found out that he committed suicide. Okay, so obviously you know the reaction. This guy was practically loved by all. I mean, it would be like if someone on Mixture or Interfusions passed away that we well liked (back in the days). You can imagine the attention they would receive. I never knew the kid, but from what gathered from his posts, he was a funny guy and good attitude. Even though suicide is just bad, I didn't know him well enough for the news to phase me, honestly. My friend was in the raid guild he was in, and said they were having some in-game memorial and all that stuff. Personally, I think that's just way too cheesy. Any real friend would know the person's personal information, and if they lived close enough, they would pay their respects in person.
A few days later, I was on the
WoW Uldum forums again, and saw a lot of topics created in dedication to this guy. I dunno, but I had this weird feeling that this was just way too much for one person. Granted, he was loved, but give me a break. I guess I was just being cynical about this, since I had "attention whore" alerts going off in my brain. I had this feeling that something was off about this whole thing... Then I saw a few posts about how this dude basically lied about having cancer on another WoW realm forum and then was found to be alive and well. Basically he told everyone in his realm that he had cancer, then someone posted that he died, only to be found live and basically tricked everyone. Then someone decided to call the police department in Overland Park. They didn't get any reports of any suicides or deaths of a teenager. So, in conclusion, Birdd played everyone for a fool... AND I THINK THAT'S FUCKING HILARIOUS!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Okay, if there was truly a suicide, there would be news about it... especially since there were so many emails from people from WoW, the news would link it with WoW so fast, your head would spin. This country would love to link anything negative to WoW, so the game would get a bad name. Honestly, if the members of the guild were truly friends, wouldn't they have his phone number? I mean, no one mentioned calling his house or cell phone. They just said they called the police. And if he did have real life friends on there, wouldn't people think they would play along with this act? Hahahaha! I just couldn't stop laughing at this. They had some in-game memorial service, and it was all bullshit. Technically, I don't know if this person is actually dead or not, but the evidence that say he lied outweight the evidence that says he committed suicide. The fact that someone already did this sort of thing also tells me that this dude totally mind-fucked everyone... Except me. :P Anyway, I'm totally doing what he wanted and basically talking about the situation (if he is alive), but I just find it funny and also thought it was funnier to point out that it wasn't the fact that he was an asshole for making people think he committed suicide, but it was funnier to see how many people just blindly believed that he committed suicide without doing any real investigation.
I just think this show how retarded people can be, despite the amount of information they can find on the internet. I mean, if I was on WoW and said I was gonna be gone forever or something, and then I don't come on for days or weeks, I know Stephen would call me. If not, Muhmad would call me, too. Hell, they both can write to Jerrod to find out if something happened to me. The point is, it's not that hard to find out if someone is actually dead.
Eh... What can I say? It's the internet. Some people will believe almost anything. All I know his, this should be a T-Shirt... If not one already...
