All glory and inspiration to poisonntaster!

Names:

Ronon rolled out of bed, grabbing the headset, "You what?" He growled into the mike, starting for the door. He had someone to talk to. It would be informative.

"I started scanning the planets for trackers like yours once we found you. I've located and pin-pointed two." Rodney's voice over the radio was small, and Ronon twitched.

"Two."

"Yes, two." Rodney snarked, "From P4C-675. The last planet that we went to? We had to leave suddenly? I didn't even see that the scanner picked up the signals until I started going through my stuff. I called you as soon as I found it."

For a man with such a short temper and obviousness with people, Ronon felt relieved that Dr Rodney McKay considered him to be a friend, or it might have been weeks before any news of this surfaced otherwise. "Thanks McKay. Gotta go." He switched directions, heading now for the leaders office, not McKay's lab. He toggled his headset, "Dr Weir?"

"Yes Ronon?" He gentle voice was quick to respond and he curbed his anger.

"I need to talk to Sheppard and you about something."

"About what?" Just because he wasn't from Earth originally, didn't mean he was stupid. The Terrans occasionally treated him like he was of little consequence, but he was a university graduate.

"Two more Runners."

"What?" Her exclamation vindicated him and he smirked.

"McKay found two signals on the last planet that matched my tracker." He disconnected his radio and stepped into her office, "I'd like to go and get them."

"I..." She paused and Sheppard quirked an eyebrow. He had been here before Ronon had come, and he had a computer with him, going over something with the leader. "I don't know Ronon. You just came back from P4C-675, they ran you off with spears."

"There are two, TWO, Runners on that planet. I have never met another Runner, but we need to go and get them. Runners don't last long." He knew that Runners didn't last long; there were few tales about them and the tales were short and bloody.

"Two?" Sheppard straightened. "Wait," He cocked his head to the side, "You say that McKay matched the signals?"

"Yes." Ronon thought about it and the realization came the same time that Sheppard continued.

"So they could be from Sateda." Weir frowned and Sheppard shrugged, "The Wraith would want to know where their Runners are from originally. They might have programmed the trackers differently for each planet." Weir's eyes lit up and she looked to Ronon.

"How soon can you be ready to go." At least she understood how he felt about finding Satedans who had survived his planets ruin.

"Now."

"John, get a team, go with him. Find them and bring them home if you're able."

Sheppard was on the radio with Lorne as she finished speaking, both men out the door not a second later.

Lorne and three Marines joined them in the Puddlejumper bay as they arrived. "You got a doctor on the team?" Sheppard asked, loading up his gear as they boarded.

"No, Beckett is on his way." Lorne glanced at Ronon, "I figured Specialist Dex would be able to vouch for him personally."

"Good plan." Beckett huffed a bit as he staggered into the Jumper, "I can't imagine finding more Runners, but I'm willing to help." Ronon smiled at him, grateful. He did trust Beckett, and he would vouch for him, gladly.

"Let's get this show on the road." Sheppard hailed the command center and was given the all clear, piloting the Jumper through the gate, using the cloak. They didn't want to run into the people with the spears again, not if they could help it. "Lorne, you got the co ordinance?"

"Yes sir. Eight miles West."

"Okay everyone: on your toes. If you find them, hang back. Do not engage, wait for Ronon. Ronon, you ready for this?"

"Yes." A single word was all that was needed.

"Sahm?" Dene Win patted his brothers cheek, trying to wake him up. They had to move. Had to move now. They'd been here way too long, the Wraith were going to find them.

The sound of movement in the bush made Dean cover Sahm's mouth in case he woke.

Everything went silent and Dean palmed his gun. Next thing that moved was gonna get hit...

"Win? Dene Win?" Ronon Dex stepped from the bush and Dean's eyes widened in confusion even as his gun snapped up. It had been a long time since anyone had used his Satedan name except Sahm. He was still hesitant to lower his gun though.

"Ronon Dex. What brings you around to these parts?" Dene scanned the tree line. There were six people out there, waiting for something.

"You're a Runner."

"Yeah. You escape Sateda?"

"No. Got caught. I was a Runner. Is that..." Dene snarled at him.

"Don't even!" He lined up his gun with the noisiest target in the woods. To his surprise, Dex stepped in front of him.

"That's a medic. He's here to help you. He got the tracker out of me, he can get the tracker out of you. And your brother." Dene twitched, nervous about so many people around.

"Just one medic?" He leaned a bit further over Sam, "And who are the other five?"

"Part of the military of Atlantis. The Ancient City."

"You expect me to believe you when you start talking about the fabled Ancient City? That you brought people from there?" Dean jerked his head at Dex, using the silent Satedan gesture to tell him 'fuck you'.

"Dene, I'm not lying." Dex waved to his left, "This is Colonel John Sheppard. He's the head of the military."

A skinny, dark haired bastard stepped from the trees, hands off his weapons. He was were a black and blue uniform, and a smile. "Hey! I'm Sheppard. You mind not aiming at our doctor?"

Dene's face twisted up as he considered the man. Being so... jovial, went a long way to making him believe that 'Sheppard' wasn't from around this galaxy. "You aren't from here. From our planets." 'Sheppard' jerked back and hid his surprise with a smile.

"Nope. We hail from a different galaxy." He looked at Sahm and Dene resisted the urge to shoot him, "You want our Doc to take a look at him?"

"He'll be fine. He just needs to wake up." Dene licked his lips. If Dex wasn't lying then... They could stop. Just.

Stop.

Stop running, stop hiding, stop killing. Neither Win man had wanted a life like they had. It had started when the Wraith had killed their mother when they were young. Their father, Juhon, had trained them. Trained them to become killers, hunters, predators of the Wraith. After they'd done as much damage as possible during the attack, the Wraith had scooped them up and made them Runners.

Training for young Wraith to capture.

And torture.

"You aren't lying? Your medic can get the trackers out?" Dene fractionally lowered his gun and Dex nodded.

"Yeah, he can get them out."

"What's the price."

Sheppard looked baffled, "What? Why would there be a price?"

"There is always a price. Do you want our service? Our loyalty?" Dene's lip curled, "Our lives?"

"No! No, we don't want anything from you!" Sheppard shrugged, "We wouldn't mind getting any information that you could pass on to us, but if you want, Beckett will remove the trackers and we'll leave." He eyed Sahm. "If that's what you want."

Dene blinked. Then blinked again. "That's it? You don't want anything? You don't want payment for doing expensive and invasive surgery?"

"Nope."

"Oh." Dene bit his lip then nodded. "Fine. Can't hurt anything anyway." As soon as he agreed, the others stepped from the trees. Only one didn't have weapons and he was the first to Dene's side.

"What happened to him?"

"Spear. Little pieces of bottomwaste threw a spear at him and caught his side." Dex snorted suddenly and Sheppard looked at him. Dene and Beckett ignored them.

"What?" Curious, Sheppard raised his eyebrows.

"Bottomwaste. Thank god I never swore around you before I learned your swearwords. Even to me 'shit' sounds better." Dex smirked, "I like your swearwords."

"Alright boys! Let's get the lad back to Atlantis. He's stable enough and after I've finished patching him up, we'll take the tracker out of Mr... Win, was it?" Dene nodded, worried about his brother. the doc pulled something out of his pack and snapped it open, startling Dene, before he saw it was a stretcher.

"Dex and I'll take it." Dene gently lifted Sahm up onto the stretcher and Dex took the other end. They were almost safe now. Just a little while longer.
