The university is open, the roads are passable (at least until they all freeze solid when the sun goes down) and life returns to a cold, white version of normal. :-)
I am pleased to report that they plowed in front of my garage sometime this morning, leaving only a 2' high, 2' deep strip of snow in front of the garage for me to deal with. I dealt with it by spreading the snow out in front of the garage and driving through it. (Yes, I should have added it scoop my scoop to the pile in front of my window, but I was lazy.)
The apartment office apparently has loaner shovels, but to my mind the main point of having a shovel in a place where shoveling is provided is getting out of your apartment in the first place...
I'm very grateful for my garage: my neighbors left cars parked outside and are going to have to do a fair amount of work extracting them, possibly with loaner shovels.
There's an impressive pile of snow in front of my living room window between the drifting and the shoveling. The Bird Channel is going to be down for a while because the bottom part of the window -- which the ladies usually look out -- is blocked. And I guess this settles whether I'm putting Christmas lights up on my window this year... I can't get to it. :-) The pile of snow by my office window at work (from plowing the lots) is extremely impressive as well.
Now, hopefully it doesn't snow like this again during finals...
