Wow, people must be thinking I dropped off the face of the world or something. (I blame Facebook. For the most part I like LJ a lot better, but those little status updates are SO easy to post!)
Question: it looks like there's an RSS feed of my Facebook status update. Am I right in thinking that could set that up as a syndicated account so that those who don't have a Facebook account, who wanted to, could read it on their friends page? (And so that those who DO have Facebook, and don't want to read it twice, won't have to?)
Would someone with a paid account be willing to set that up for me? (Since I gather only paid accounts can create new RSS feeds.)

Oh, right, a post about basketball. I went to an ISU women's basketball game this weekend. One of the other faculty members has season tickets and apparently frequently invite people to go. (They have more season tickets than they have people, if that makes sense.)
It was pretty fun, actually. I know nothing about basketball except that you want to get the ball in the other team's basket and keep the ball out of yours. But it's a pretty exciting game to watch because, unlike baseball (sorry Mom!) there's not a lot of time sitting around waiting for something interesting to happen. They're always moving. (The refs have to be in good shape!)
There was a woman on the other team who was only 5'5", but MAN could she shoot. She scored something like half the other team's points in the game, and it's not because she was hogging the ball, either.
We won, which is always nice. We mostly won because the other team fouled us so much, though. (Trivia fun fact: after a team gets 7 fouls in a half, the other team gets to take a free throw every time there's a foul, not just when the foul is on a player talking a shot. Who knew? Everyone but me, apparently.) There was one time when everyone started cheering wildly and I had no idea why they were cheering. Turns out the refs had declared a foul against us an "intentional foul" which means we got two free throws AND the ball back. Then the other team's coach got so mad yelling at the refs that we got two MORE shots because of a penalty on him. No wonder we were cheering.
As an added bonus, my colleague had brought pom-poms that we were supposed to wave in the air every time ISU got a 3-point basket. (That only happened a few times.) I discovered that if it's winter in Iowa, you're wearing a wool sweater, and you're holding a pom-pom, you can do fun Mr. Wizard-esque experiments with static electricity during time-outs.

One thing I did realize, though, is that I made entirely the wrong choice when I knit my Harry Potter scarf 3years ago. I knit a Slytherin scarf. Should have gone for Gryffindor... ISU's colors are red and yellow, so it would have worked as an ISU scarf, too. But who knew?
I don't think it bothers me enough to knit a whole other scarf, though. Damn, that was a boring knit. (Nothing but k1p1 forever and ever and ever and...)
In other knitting news, I finished my $25 un-assembled hat this weekend. Pictures to follow one of these days.

I have just received an email suggesting we still have a faculty meeting at 4pm today despite the blizzard warning out for this afternoon and evening. Joy.
