This has happened to me numerous times now and it's confused me every time.
Me: :knits on a sock big enough to fit my feet, which are much larger than a baby's:
Passerby: What are you knitting?
Me: A sock.
Passerby: Is it for a baby?
Me: (to myself) This is already big enough that I could fit at least 2-3 complete baby feet into it and I'm not even to the heel yet. How on earth could it possibly be a sock for a baby? A baby with mutant size 9.5 feet?
Me: (out loud) No, it's for me.
Seriously, this happens quite a bit. I suppose the connection between knitting and babies is so strong that people feel compelled to ask this even though the object I'm knitting is clearly too large to be a sock for the largest baby ever born.
