I have to echo what catchtheball said recently about a guy she's been chatting with.

I don't have fuzzy-romantic feelings, but I am about to propose marriage to this guy.Except I don't exactly want to propose marriage, but I get an email from him and I find myself thinking "wow, I really love this guy." Not in a romantic way, but in a way where I love getting ( Read more... )

Ha. I have thought that, too. The "wow, I really love this guy." I mean, obviously I don't really love him. But I love our conversations, I love how we share our thought processes with one another and how we appear to be equally matched in how neurotic we are. Skipping the small talk is one of my favorite things about conversing. If we can skip the small talk, you generally have my attention, and we have been able to maintain that type of conversation throughout all our correspondencies. Which is awesome.

If you don't mind my inquiry, why does Father's Day make you so moody? I mean, I know why obviously, but at the same time I sorta don't. If that makes any sense at all.

It didn't used to when we'd celebrate with grandpa, but I think it's more seeing the reminders of how others are spending the day reminds me how much I miss him.

And also... other stuff, like the whole "hi, my father is an abandoning alcoholic *censored*"

And this year? I was PMS-y on top of all of that :P

And I SO hear you on the guy stuff. It really is awesome :)

Well, think of it this way. We grew up with the greatest dad ever. Sure, he wasn't our biological dad, but he was still the best ever. The best thing our biological father ever did, in my opinion, was abandon us. His own fathering inadequacies aside; if our father hadn't been who he was, would we have become as close to Grandpa as we did? Perhaps. But maybe not.

And even if all of that had never happened, even if we were never blessed with the father we did have in him, we would still have a Father in Heaven Who surpasses incommunicably anything that anyone has ever had.

I guess I think of Father's Day as more of a mile-marker to the day that we'll see both of them again.

And on an only slightly side note, I'm sending you a song in 11 minutes LOL
