Halloween (Kihae)
A small child stood at the top of the jungle gym, overlooking his make-shift kingdom with pride. "This kingdom of mine is beautiful. Oh! what do we have here? A traveler has so kindly approached my gates!" The boy climbed down the rope ladder and jumped down the rest of the way towards a shy looking boy. "Kibum! You look beautiful as always." The boy wiggled his eyebrows at the younger jokingly. "Hi Donghae." The smaller boy said shakily, as though not yet used to the hectic activity called speech. A small pause in their conversation had Donghae disregarding his pretend game and accompanying Kibum to the sandbox.
There were older kids int he sandbox at the time and just as Kibum was reaching for a red shovel, one of the children snatched up the shovel and laughed as they buried it in the sand. Kibum didn't say a word but Donghae had seen them. "Hey! what did you do to my friend's shovel?" Donghae made an obscene gesture at them as the children shrugged and walked away, not wanting to attract the attention of the mothers chatting at the side of the park. As they combined their efforts to dig up the shovel, Kibum blushed and mumbled "thanks, hyung."
A familiar ring put their construction plans of a fort to a halt. "stay here, bummie. I'll be back in 2 minutes." Donghae ran over to the cart pulling coins out of his pocket. When he got back, however, Kibum was standing up to leave. "Here, Kibummie, I'll see you tomorrow?" Kibum nodded, pulling his baseball hat over his eyes and licked his ice cream shyly. "Bye, hyung."
The next day, when Donghae was walking to the park after school, he found Kibum already there. "What are you wearing?" Kibum gave a quick smile and spun around, waving his cape. "I'm a vampire, hyung." Donghae laughed and spun around Kibum, looking at every aspect of his costume."Did you wear this to school?" Was there a costume party today?" Kibum shook his head no and took out his calendar. "Halloween, hyung. When I lived in America, every year today, we dress up and go get candy."
"really?" Donghae looked around to find something to make a costume out of. "You know what, Kibummie? I'm going to be a caveman." Donghae took off all his clothes and put a large fallen leaf over his privates. "tada!" Kibum laughed so hard he couldn't stand up and toppled over onto Donghae."C'mon, bummie, we can ask my mom for candy. She always has a lot in that alligator looking purse that she carries around." Before Kibum could explain to his hyung that that wasn't how it worked, Donghae grabbed his hand and dragged him off all the while shouting to the world that it was the best halloween ever. . . until some little old lady fainted at the sight of him.
