Oh, I kill myself sometimes

I had every intention of updating extensively regarding this amazing past weekend, but I conked out on the couch around midnight and only just woke up. I fully intend on going to bed for real reasonably soon, so there's really no time.

There's no time to tell you all about the awesomeness of the Shaking Tree show at Mike's Tavern Friday night, or the heart-wrenching vacillation required to get us there. I can't describe how great it felt to see them getting so much love, in a crowded bar, with a bunch of crazy drunks dancing in front of the stage here in KC. Or how Dain's awesome wife Jennifer broke the ice by dragging my reluctant ass out of the crowd to dance before anyone else was! Or how overjoyed I was that Jason actually liked/enjoyed them despite the night eventually getting the better of him...

Too much happened Saturday to mention, like:
- getting up relatively early for Trenton's soccer game and meeting his mother (which was a good thing)...
- talking to my Blue Willie's friend Susan for the last time before her impending move to Las Vegas to be with her new husband (who she met online like less than three months ago). She was a much needed breath of fresh air on many long, boring nights at the Natural Way. She will be missed...
- hanging with so many old and new friends at the Dark Horse that we annexed the entire back end of the bar. It was so freakin' sweet. We danced, and sang along to the jukebox, and had an all around drunken good time. There toward the end, several of us were quite schnockered and I expect we were making royal fools of ourselves...
- then talking to Jason for another hour or so before finally crashing. I'm glad I spent the night with my friends instead of going with him to Higginsville, but I do so wish I could have also seen the gaggle of teeny-bopper girlies trying to mosh to him. Heck, I just wish I could have finally seen him perform and met his friends! There's always this Friday though :)

There's still no time to describe today, which I mostly spent recovering from last night instead of shooting a roll of film as originally planned. But it turns out that was in my best interest anyways because Jason got off work early and stopped by to surprise me with flowers. Three roses, one for each week so far. ::sappy sigh:: Even if I had the time you wouldn't want me to describe how wonderful I think he is...

I also can't get into too much detail about Kelsey's 14th birthday, which is good, because I could go on about how much money our mother must have spent on her at Standard, and I don't even want to mention the Coach purse. Ugh! Or that she also gets to keep Fate's b-day gift: a cute, little, baby kitty some neighbor kids found as a stray... So not fair!

But I have my own gift from Fate, which I am quite pleased with at this point.

Well, tomorrow is calling...
