It'd been by chance that Jeff had seen someone putting back the basketball. The idea of throwing a few hadn't even crossed his mind until then, despite actually knowing the hoop existed. Having the ball readily available changed that, and since he assumed that it was probably free to use, he didn't see anything stopping him ( Read more... )

Most of the time, Britta was content to laze about, but sometimes, sometimes she got it into her head to go down to the beach and do a little more than just hang around. As she headed back up the path, getting closer to the Compound, her clothes were starting to dry from the heat (a bikini and shorts, so she probably should have counted on running into Jeff), but her hair hung wet around her shoulders.

"Wow, do I detect signs of impending physical exertion?" she asked, though the teasing was relatively good-natured. "I thought you just worked out when no one was looking."

"Disappointed this is only your first time seeing me like this?" he asked with a quirked up brow, grinning. There was no reason for him to work-out in secret, especially when he had no problem showing off the results of working out. "You're just not around when I'm in that gym that's here."

"Oh, god," Britta scoffed, smirking. "Yeah, there's a reason I'm not. I can't believe you actually use that ridiculous gym. It looks like the Seventies in there." She remembered the Seventies. It hadn't been a good era for much.

"With the luck I've been running, I'm probably looking at having a personal gym appearing out of nowhere in my hut eventually," he said. He wasn't even joking. He'd gotten a hut that already had a bed, then got that dresser - obviously, he was doing something right. "Besides, it's still better than Greendale's. And there's no dress code."

Though he'd seen pairs of those shorts in the box more than once. Like it needed to give him more reasons to hate it.

"So you invented your own," Britta said. She couldn't help it if Jeff made it way too easy to make fun of his wardrobe. Granted, it was pretty nice, if you were into that kind of look, but that was all the more reason. Who needed to dress that nice on an island? "Anything's better than Greendale's. You're gonna play basketball alone? Oh, well, I guess it is easier to win that way."

"You know, if anyone asked to join me, I'd be happy to beat them," he smirked, lifting an eyebrow. Sure, if he knew people who played on the island, he'd ask. "Even you, though I think I'd need to take it easy on you."

"Why?" Britta asked. "Because you think I can't hold my own? I don't need your pity playing, Winger, bring it on." She was almost grinning, though. There was always something fun about getting competitive with Jeff, maybe because he was one of the few people she knew who was as stubborn as she was.

"Are you really challenging me to an actual basketball game?" he asked, a mix of skepticism and amusement crossing his expression. "Because that's not going to end well for you."

Not that he wasn't completely for this, because wow, this was going to be hilarious.
