SUNDAY 02/01/05
All my friends had been called up by my OG already, with the exception of me ): I was getting rather flustered and worried about getting left out. Like maybe the sorted orientation groups by putting everybody's name in a hat and started drawing them out one by one and perhaps by some freakish accident my name got left in the hat.
Anyhow I wanted to watch the Tiger Cup finals but due to the pouring rain my parents were hesitant to let me go. Was supposed to meet benny, lionel, jian, yowie, some cushion guy, sinchi and i cant recall who else at the Kallang MRT at 4.30pm. Unfortunately it was still raining at that time so my parents wouldn't let me out. My mum actually called the National Stadium a "Sleezy place" and was worried.
In the end I spent 2 hours begging them to let my go and around 6.45 my mum drove me to the National Stadium. It's my 2nd live match in Singapore. Great stuff. The referee was quite fei at the beginning. Most of the decisions seemed to go in Myanmar's favour. The home support was also quite poor. Most of the fans went quiet once Myanmar scored their goal. The cheering was mainly done by the Myanmar fans.
There was a sudden revival once Singapore managed to get back at 2-1 and one myanmar player sent off. We were in the game again! Then later 2 more got sent off and a penalty awarded! "Ole ole ole ole" was all we could chant though. Singapore needs to come up with more decent cheers. Indra missed the penalty. Couldn't believe it. Then again the pitch was wet and muddy. Game went into Extra added time. with the huge manpower advantage, the Lions easily pwnzzzed the Myanmar team. and 'cruised' to a 4-2 victory. We're through to the finals!
Admittedly the match value isn't that great, but I give it full marks for entertainment. Complete with crowd violence and all. We even got to see the riot police and lots of them being rounded up. Exciting stuff, fortunately we didnt get hurt or anything.
Came home and decided to watch the match again. You don't get a very clear view of what's happening in real life action. Also found out that my OGL was trying to call me while I was away. Found out that I was in Io'ren.
MONDAY 03/01/05
First day of school. First day of rjc. First day of being in the new campus. First day of meeting my OG. First day to the start of a wonderful 5 days ahead. We started off quite stonedly playing stoned games such as whacko and whatnot. Eventually the ice was beginning to melt among the 24 of us. I still didnt know everybody on the first day though. Mainly the guys. They looked all the same to me. Went out for OG dinner at the end at Plaza Singapura Yoshinoya. Spent a bit of time out talking crap with them and got a lift from my OGL's mum back home
TUESDAY 04/01/05
Second day was better. The bad thing about documenting your OG experience at the end of it all is that so many things have happened you can't really remember what happened on each day. I'm sure it was great anyway. Probably played station games and had a lot of fun together. Went for OG dinner at pastamania. Everybody was suaning Cheese about the doorknob incident. lol. Er I did something quite unguai also but I shan't tell you what it is, for fear of getting arrested. Shhhh.. you don't know about this.
WEDNESDAY 05/01/05
Tottenham drew with Manutd. Sigh ): Rubbish. Amazing race. It was kinda amazing, but not really a race. Went to Marina South to fly kites. It was so fun. I haven't flown a kite in ages. I was actually dying to fly one since sec 2, just that I couldn't fish out the time to do so, and I didn't know where to fly them either. Then we went to the esplanade where we wasted a lot of time. Our lunch lasted about 2 hrs. Eugene made a bet with Shoujie on whether they would get out before or after 2. In the end we left after 2 and Eugene lost the bet. He still hasn't done his forfeit which was to drink 5 cans of coke, which he never did. We played pass the charades, one of the games I quite like except that you can never get the answer. Then went to Chinatown to look for a shop. OG dinner was at some food centre today (or something like that) We managed to squeeze into 1 table. I ordered the same thing as Ruth and Joella. Joella finished hers a lot faster than us. I ended up with in a race with Ruth to finish our food. I managed to finish mine first, though I was slower at first. In fact she didn't even finish hers. Lousy. Cabbed home with a few other OGLs earlier than the rest.
THURSDAY 06/01/05
Day 4 and we still haven't learnt the dance. Most of the other OGLs were dancing at the esplanade/suntec (I'm not sure) at night.. missed the chance to see it. Anyway it was another day of fun and games. Met my class for the first time. There were only 7 girls. It was quite weird. Went for OG dinner without our OGLs today. Went to PS spotlight to get some masks and stuff. My knee injury started acting up and it started hurting like mad. Ate a light dinner today while we were stoning at PS waiting for our OGLs who in the end could not show up. So we went to get them their presents. Coincidentally we were stoning outside a petshop so we decided to get a dogbone for Ruth. It was a bit more difficult deciding what to get to Shou Jie. Knew he liked chocolates, but we wanted to get him something more lasting. Then remembered that he liked coffee and man united also. But Yipeng was against getting anything united. In the end we managed to find a shop selling cool coffee cups and got one for him. Left around 9+ while some stayed out till 11+ watching the OGs dance.
FRIDAY 07/01/05
We never actually learnt our batch dance, a bit of a pity but I'm not too worried about it, although Amy explicitly expressed how she felt. "Hey. You all suck", while watching us dance at O night.
The day started with Faction Initiation which was basically spending time with your K'lass (class! get it?). Mine was 1SO3E. There were only 7 girls. It then started to sink in how much I would miss 413 as a class. Sigh. I hope I get used to 1S03E soon. It's not going to be easy though, considering how great 413 was.
Went out to do Tsunami donation thingy with no flags. My OG is really quite slack. We went to Macs to slack like halfway through. The people at Chinatown seem more genorous than those at Orchard, or perhaps its the situation and the cause for donations. Oh well. Most of the tins were quite heavy but mine wasn't really.
Came back to school to slack a bit cos my knee was really quite bad. ouchhhhh. Our Onite attire was really quite simple after all we did. We just wore masks with feathers and glittered up our hair. The campfire and all that was quite cool and the atmosphere was quite vibrant.
Got together as an OG slightly later and reflected on the past 5 days. I sort of screwed up my turn to reflect. I really wanted to say a lot more, just that I couldn't really express what I had to say. It's just so amazing how I like my OG so much just after 5 days only. I really do love Io'Ren. Gave our OGLs gifts and they gave us stuff too. I still don't quite understand why they gave me a puppet of a girly looking thingy with a crown. haha. Ruth's handwriting is kinda hard to read!
Went out for supper at Swensens after that. Ahh .. stayed out till quite late. It feels quite nice sharing icecream with your friends. My favourite flabour is still chocolate. Went home quite late. My knee's still not ok.
Alright, that's all!
