Hey, Aerith! I think you owe me a story about Wall Market, huh? It's way overdue, even. I hope you're not hiding it on purpose!

...Oh, and while you're- actually, nevermind. I still want that story, though! You promised!

[Serious business can wait until they meet in person, anyway. It's better that way.]Never thought I'd be so happy to see a ( Read more... )

I was wondering when you'd remember! [And pffft, he did. Cloud's so not going to be happy if he found out she told him, but it was for GOOD CAUSE.

Really.]

Aha! I knew you were hiding it! Saving it to weasel another promise out of me too, no doubt!

[And she's just playing, so she immediately perks back up.] But I couldn't just tell you any old time! And especially not over the journals. Come find me in the living room.

Gotcha! [And into the living room he saunters, hands clasped together behind his head.] I'm ready for some storytelling if you are!

[She is a Final Fantasy VII character, of course she is ready for some expositioning--I mean storytelling.]

So, where did I leave off? [Thinking...] Hmm, I didn't get into the story at all yet, right? So, from the beginning!

I was taking Cloud back to sector 7. We started from my house because Mom and I let him stay there for the night... I thought he'd be out like a light, but he tried to sneak out on his guide! How rude. [Frown frown frown and no it was not remotely creepy that she got the drop on him anyway. She's just that good!] He always kept thinking I couldn't handle things, hmph...

Right, anyway. I was showing him the way back, and we stopped in the park--you remember the park, right?--just for a breather! You can see the gates between sector 6 and 7 from there. And we saw something passing through that really surprised Cloud.

Oh wow, the park... [Man, talk about nostalgia. They'd spent a lot of time there. It's too bad he never got to see her sell a lot of flowers, though.

And Cloud did the exact same thing that he probably would have done if the escort back would've put her in danger. Weird.]

So what did you guys see?

Yeah, it's still there. I was surprised to see it too.

We saw Tifa. On a chocobo cart. And she was wearing this... well, it's actually a really pretty dress! But it's...

...[Some gesturing. Not the most useful, but if Zack's good at charades he might get an idea of the cut of the dress.]

...You see a lot of Tifa in it. And sector 6 isn't the best place for girls to go in the first place. [Wait, does Zack even know that much about sector 6? She's not too sure. Not like it's a date spot.] So we went to go check what was going on.

To Sector 6- Tifa was wearing a low-cut dress to Wall Market?

[You don't live in Midgar for more than two years without at least hearing about it, and spending most of his time with the manly men of SOLDIER means plenty of gutter talk. It sort of comes with the territory. And it's not like Tifa wasn't well-known for her... interesting choice of dress... but man. Wall Market.]

[Oooh. He definitely knows what it is then. Aerith nods.] See, anyone would worry! The whole reason she went like that was because Don Corneo was working with Shinra, and she was going to corner him for some information. But she had to trick him first! So she got in through his dumb bride's hunt.

Cloud and I didn't know that, though, and he was really concerned. It was pretty sweet of him, actually. But guys aren't allowed in the mansion at all. Probably the Don couldn't handle competition. So, I told Cloud I could go in myself to tell Tifa he was there.

He didn't like that. "Oh man..." [She folds her arms and puts a hand to her forehead a la Cloud, obviously hamming this up.] "Can't let you go in alone because you're a girl, can't sneak in because I'm a guy, can't start a fight at the door with Tifa in there... oh man, oh man..."

[She keeps the head in hand position for a moment longer, but now she's looking up through it at Zack with a wicked smile.] So I say to him... [Now her arms clasp behind her back as she leans ( ... )

He knows where this is going and it makes him grin like an idiot.]

You got Cloud to wear a dress!?

[Oh, the giggling.] A pretty, purple silk dress. And a wig, too! It was for Tifa, after all.

[Okay she can't feel even a little bad for selling Cloud out like this when it gets Zack to laugh that much.] Breathe, Zack!

W... [PFFFFFT A DRESS HAHAHA...] Working on it...!

[Oh god that's amazing. So hilarious. This story's only going to get better from here, isn't it? He finally manages to settle down enough to ask.]

So what happened next?

After we got Cloud's costume together? That took us a good few hours, actually. We put a lot of hard work into it! Rounding up dressmakers, competing for wigs at the gym, doing favors for weird guys--oh, and Cloud got some of the Honey Bee Inn girls to do his makeup. I guess they're used to strange requests!

...But it all paid off. Cloud's disguise worked like a charm. Corneo's guard thought Miss Cloud was kind of hot. And Tifa did a doubletake when she realized the timid girl hiding her face was actually her brave, brave friend.

...I think we did too well, actually.
