Dear governments of the future,
I'm not sure how you found this, given how little remains of the past in my own time period from as little as 1000 years ago, but somehow here you are. I'm writing to you from the year 2011, and I have a very important message to pass on.
With the constant population issues hanging over your heads, it makes perfect sense that you decided to emulate my own time's Chinese government and institute a limit on the number of children people are allowed to have. However, it is absolutely crucial that you do not neglect the next step. It is absolutely essential that you also make it a law that everyone must be sterilised after they've had the maximum amount of children.
There are many science fiction books, TV shows and movies set in the future where these reproduction limits have been introduced, but the only ones in which people are not having to be locked up for violating this law are the ones where people are sterilised after the birth, or better still, sterilised before puberty and allowed to apply for a license to have it temporarily reversed. 21st Century technology isn't really up to that just yet, but I've no doubt this will be possible in the future.
Future governments, please take heed of this warning, and ensure that ridiculous preventable situations like that that takes place in the first episode of Terra Nova are never allowed to happen in the real world.
