Breakforth is tomorrow, and I CANNOT WAIT.
For anyone who has never heard of Breakforth, or has and doesn't know what it is, or has forgotten or... well, here's the site: And for those of you too lazy to click the link, it's a Christian conference, apparently the largest in North America. I went to it last year, and it was absolutely amazing - this year, due to a very unfortunate missed deadline, I'm not going to the conference itself, just the All-day Friday Intensive Workshop, which I actually DIDN'T do last year. I'm so very excited though, because it's all about Listening Prayer and I have been waiting for MONTHS for this.
In other, just as exciting news, the Narnia Exhibit is coming to town! And I've made plans to go see it with my friend Sarah on Saturday - we're going to take a bazillion dumb pictures and geek out over everything. (I've also made plans with friends Katie and Jay, but we haven't decided when yet, just that we will.)
So today I was heading over to the uni on the lrt, and I noticed someone reading a paper. Correction - I noticed the HEADLINE of the paper, which loudly proclaimed, "NARNIA!" So later that afternoon, I picked up a copy of the paper just so I could read the article - it would be a lie to say I wasn't hoping to learn a portal had opened up somewhere. And there I came across the best typo ever:
"The 5,000 square-foot exhibit is based off author C.S Lewis' fictional books and fantasy films including The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Princess Caspian.
Now I'm having an on-going conversation with Sarah about what a Princess Caspian movie would look like. I'm afraid she's become very Sue-like, and by that, I mean the stereotypical ultra-feminine gooey eyed simpering blond in a pink dress. An excerpt of our conversation:
Me: I can totally see it now:
[Enter Caspian, blond wig]
Miraz: My son has just been born, but I'm not going to kill you, because you're a girl and therefore no threat to my son's throne. Also, I might just marry the two of you together to gain some legitimacy.
Caspian: Ok, I'm just going to go braid my hair and then pet my horse and dream about unicorns for a bit.
Sarah: HAHAHAHHSA what happens when there's the war? "caspian sat high in her tower and made paintings of fairies"
Me: lol
Peter: Caspian, we have heard the call of your - I mean, Susan's - horn! We have come to help you defeat the army.
Caspian: MY FUTURE HUBBY <333
Sarah: "but who should I choose? Peter or Edmund???!!!! Big decision!!!"
Me: THREESOME. lolololololol
Who am I kidding? She'd probably pair up with Trumpkin, or maybe Doctor Cornelius. :P
"Real live dwarves! It's just like the story with the apple and the stepmother and the prince!"
Sarah: " but there's way more than seven! This doesn't make any sense!!"
Me: "Hey look guys - I found the witch! She's behind that big wall of ice! Come see!"
Sarah: "wow I wonder how she gets her hair like that!!"
Me: ahahaha YES.
Jadis: Give me your hand, child, and all your stylish dreams can come true.
This is just too funny.
Also, I'm just now listening to Jon Schmidt on Youtube. How have I not heard of him before? This is amazing! I printed out Love Story Meets Viva La Vida, which is kinda tricky to play because I have to incorporate the cello part into the piano bit, but it's so much fun. And I think I'm gonna be printing out more of his free sheet music, because it is SO COOL. All of it.
Aaand, anyone else see Life In A Day over on Youtube? Coolest thing ever. The guy biking around the world, who's been at it for 9 years and 190 countries so far! The little boy who shines shoes all day and then goes home to his laptop to read Wikipedia! The mother who had - I think - some sort of surgery! The woman whose husband is across the world serving in the army! And all the little tidbits and moments of all these different lives, all taken on one particular day - THIS IS SO AMAZING. I am so planning on watching this again, and again, because it was so neat to see all these different cultures and lives and perspectives. SO COOL. GO WATCH. And if you have, let me know!
