Tangled = WIN times a kajillion
Tangled is the best movie I have seen all year. And yes, I have seen Social Network and Inception, plus a whole lot of others.
But seriously, this was a flash right back to when I was younger and watching my favourite Disney movies at least once a week. The magic was ALL RIGHT THERE. Soooo excellent! The humour was well written and had me actually laughing at loud for most of the movie, the dramatic sad part had me almost in tears (and I've probably mentioned before that as much as I wish otherwise, I never cry for movies), and the whole thing had my heart squeeing. Flynn/Rapunzel is one of the cutest pairings I have ever seen. Mother Gothel was an excellent villian, because she was complex, and it seemed as though she really does love Rapunzel, even if her motives for keeping the girl locked up in a tower are a little... unorthodox. Pascal was one of the cutest sidekicks ever (as you can see from my new userpic) and Max the horse was HILARIOUS. If I had to pick a favourite character, I'd have to choose the horse, and that is NOT because the others weren't good. They were all great. Max was just... more great. The bandits were hilarious too.
Best of all, all the songs were stuffed full of the Disney magic! They are the kind of songs that can be sung again and again, songs that I would not be surprised to hear people singing out in public with their friends - which I guess is one of the best tests for whether a Disney song passes muster. I'd been disappointed by the Princess and the Frog because I felt the songs had not been singable at all - Tangled's songs were everything I had been hoping for and more. I'm trying to convince myself to wait and put the soundtrack on my Christmas list, but I have a feeling I'll have bought it before the weekend is gone.
So if you haven't seen Tangled yet, go go GO! Do not wait! Forget everything else! This is one of my favorite Disney movies ever. Ever.
