The SCAUverse Timeline
I have had the idea for the SCAUverse (SCAU = Silver Chair Alternate Universe) for quite some time now, and where once I was thinking of writing it as a longish chapter story, that's really just not the way I roll. I'm sure you know how many times I've thought to write a chapter story that's just ended up in disappointment and despair (on my part, not the characters') and so I've learned that it's better to stick with one-shots instead.
So I have created a timeline for my SCAUverse, and when inspiration hits I shall write one-shots based on the events listed here. Please, please feel free to take any ideas I have here and run with them - I would love to see someone else's take on this. But if you do, please send me a link, and maybe ref my timeline in an A/N.
EDIT: After an enlightening conversation with a few very enlightened friends, I revised the timeline just a bit in places.
SCAUverse Timeline
- Jill and Eustace are brought into Narnia from Beyond World's End (aka Spare Oom, aka England)
- Events of Silver Chair - Quest for the Lost Prince
- Return with Rilian to Cair Paravel. Caspian X dies after seeing his son one last time. Rilian is crowned King of Narnia
- Special ceremony for the knighting of Sir Eustace and Lady Jill (Order of the Lion)
- A wave of protest arises across the country after the coronation, spurred by doubts that Rilian is the true son of Caspian. Riots spring up, the most famous being the Beruna Protests. Rilian, Jill and Eustace ride out with soldiers, and the king is wounded in the fight, known as the Third Battle of Beruna. By this time, night has fallen and Rilian's blood glows silver, proving him to have blood of the stars. As word of this spreads, the protests are quickly quelled.
- Jill and Eustace learn about the mermaids. [Deadly]
- Galma takes advantage of the country's weakened state and attacks the Narnian fleet, beginning a two year war.
- During the wartime, the Duke of Armadrue is discovered to be trading secrets to the Galmans. He is sentenced to death for treachery and Eustace is anointed the new Duke of Armadrue.
- The war ends.
- The Narnian Ambassador in Calormen is assassinated and one of the murderers is captured. After a month's deliberation, the Tisroc refuses to send the man to Narnia to be tried. The murderer is released from custody two days later.
- [More incidents in this time - border skirmishes etc]
- Eight years after SC, Rilian begins courting Jill, and eventually proposes. She rejects his proposal. The next day, Eustace is assigned the roll of Ambassador to Leprech. Jill travels there with him. [In the Walls of Iathghlas]
- Just over a month after arriving at Iathghlas, Eustace proposes to Jill, and she accepts.
- [Several things happen in this time, most significant being a passing of years]
- Fifteen years after SC, there is an attack by bandits on the border near Armadrue, and in the skirmish Eustace is wounded by a stray spear and immediately catches a fever. Jill sends to Cair Paravel for a healer, and if necessary, Queen Lucy's cordial.
- Before the healer can arrive, Aslan comes to tell Eustace and Jill it is time to take them back to Beyond World's End. There they meet young Caspian, become young again themselves, and return to England to teach the school bullies a lesson. [Must Come to an End]
