If I Had A Hammer
Actually, now I do, but I had a devil of a time finding it.
I've been looking for about a month now for a 2 or three pound sledge to turn into a hammer for blöt, in more or less any store that I might be in that might have them. After looking in every department store, discount store, and even Home Depot in 37216 and surrounds, I finally found a suitable tool at the Lowe's in Madison. The tool in question is a 3 lb Kobalt drilling hammer with a drop forged head and a hickory handle. We're going to paint the head gold, then wrap the handle in leather with burnt-in runes, or maybe carve them into the wood.
Next will be the creation of an oath ring and a portable harrow of some kind. I'm also thinking of making a sheild to put at the foot of the harrow, but haven't decided about that yet, and I may make a new drinking horn as well.
For the moment though, I have a piece of furniture to assemble.
