Steins;Gate is coming out on PC in Japan in roughly two weeks. It takes place in the same setting as Chaos;Head, which was gorgeous and interesting even if it was really weird. Steins;Gate apparently has to do with sending text messages into the past, but anyway, the point is that I'm now allowed to have hope that someone will eventually translate the game to English! Even if it never happens, there's at least hope. There was very little of that when it was Xbox360 exclusive.
Steins;Gate is pretty much the VN I want to play most at the moment, followed by... well, honestly, Kara no Shoujo looks like it has incredibly interesting mechanics for a visual novel, and Star Mine Girl (Sumaga) looks funny and has lovely visuals. The latter will definitely be out in English before S;G, no matter how long JAST takes to release it, while Kara is... the translator was pretty well done, but I think hadn't finished the image editing and probably some programming or something, when they got a C&D from the original company in Japan. It will likely get released as an underground sort of thing, but it might not, and I might miss it even if it does. The moral of the story is, no one wants to get tracked down and sued, but no one wants all that hard work translating to go down the drain either.
I should probably limit myself to waiting on the visual novels that Amaterasu releases; everything they do is both quick and polished.
