I also hear that there are some form of decorative awards being offered to the winners of those combat competitions? If anyone could provide me with more information on said event and, if possible, the contestants

There but nothing of significant monetary value. This tournament is in the spirit of celebration, not riches, glory, or hostility.

You mistake me pretty thoroughly. I'm not interested in money unless it can buy me reasonable comfort, glory unless it comes at no danger to my head, or hostility unless I've received it first.

I just like trophies.
