I tried the Nike+ and I found out two things
1. I bought my phone 3 months before the iPod 3GS came out
2. There is no chance of the Nike+ technology working on anything but iPod Touch (2nd gen or later), iPhone 3GS, and iPod nanos.
:(
If I can find the packaging I'll send it back, but quite frankly I'm not sure I've got it and it's always a bitch to figure this stuff out. If I can't, I'll just sell it.
Anyway, if you happen to have an iPhone with its fancy GPS, I'd suggest you try out RunKeeper, which is simple enough to set up and can actually map out the route you're travelling on. The one downside to this is sometimes the GPS is a little off making it seem as though you were running 8 minute miles across your neighbors' rooftops. Other than this though, it seems like it keeps your distance, pace, elevation, and a semi-reliant map for you. The lite version is free and seems to be able to do anything you'd really need it to. Of course, my guess is that not many other people are looking for this technology. Well, just in case anybody out there wants to motivate themselves to run/walk/cycle with numbers, check it out.
