[Cross should hear footsteps stumbling and racing down the stairs - he took them just for you, Allen - and he almost races past the room due to his momentum. But Lavi snags the door frame and stares into the room with disbelieving shock on his face.]
No...
[Redhead will be...sinking to his knees now, still gripping the door as his head also goes down. They couldn't lose Allen. Couldn't. Yet they had. This...is a very bad month. Too many holes and too many cuts on the Bookman's heart now. And now he couldn't leave to fix them.]

[He hadn't heard the muttered, "who's gone" from his device. It was across the room and forgotten.
By the time Lavi reached the room, Cross had moved from the center of the room to sit at the little table Allen had, hand over something small. Tim kept close to the man but moved a bit when he noticed the junior bookman in the room. Not good not good.
There was so much he wanted to do yet with Allen... Talk to him about... Get answers about. But now... He was out of time to do it. ]

[It hadn't been muttered anyway, just an inner thought in the back of his mind as he worked on making up new assignments for those that wanted to learn Russian. Which is now the furthest thing from his mind at all. He didn't even want to think about Russian.
Lavi doesn't even enter, just stays in his kneeling position in the doorway. The rest of his body finally follows gravity and he sits, lifting his head a little to sweep over the mostly empty room. He remembers seeing things here and there that aren't anymore, tidbits of home that Allen had with him, gone now. Lavi shifts to bring his knees up to his chest, arms wrapped around as he continued to blankly stare in the room.
No hope that your disciple will come back, Cross? Lavi hopes so, desperately hopes that this is some trick of Libitina's. Because it's not fair. Lavi grips his pant fabric, eye narrowing a bit as he gets caught up in the anger at the ghost girl and her master. But it passes too quickly and he just hides his face in the hollow between his knees and chest. Voice

[The red haired guardian bastard was finally over on this side of the river again. Why?
Karkat frowns as he gets up, moving to see what room it is. But he knows Timcampi and some part of him is already screaming at himself for being an idiot.
For daring to connect to anything when it's all going to go to hell anyways.]

[The stairs are a bitch and a half to get down sometimes. But he's used to all this. It's better than the Veil. Until he sees the door and the missing name from the name plate. He stands in the doorway feeling numb as he looks in vain with his yellow eyes for any trace of Allen.
It's as if this were a timeline where Allen didn't exist. Yet he had. The troll doesn't say anything as he turns to go. To leave the guardian to his grieving.

[He didn't really hear the other come to the door but the odd colourings of the troll caught Cross' eye, causing him to look up from the table.]
...Karkat, right?
[All the man wanted to do was smoke and drink down all the wine he could get his hands on but... Things needed to be done. Things that he needed to be sober for.]

[He pauses in mid-step. Karkat had dreaded the very idea of talking to Cross about this. Now, that moment is here and he's turning to face him while pulling back his hood to reveal his features.]
[By the time Cross gets back to his device, he's calmed himself enough over the face he broadcasted his upset to the entire network to deal with the messages from the other residents.
Cross rarely has any reason to break his silence about things, but when Tim comes zipping for him across the river, something is wrong. Especially when he was given instruction to stay with Allen.]
[Kanda doesn't say anything right away, but... both seeing that and hearing Cross. He had just gotten back, yes, but Allen's just... always been here. Kanda might have gotten here first, but there was a long stretch of time where it's always just been him, Allen, and Alma.
He wasn't afraid to admit that he was somewhat close to the other now.]
[From what he had gathered from the feeds he had seen between Kanda and Allen, their antagonistic relationship had changed over the months to be a bit kinder. Though, the undertones of rivalry and dislike were still there, both seemed to have moved on to something better...]
[Definitely. Kanda's even first-named the beansprout a few times, though it's always been during serious conversations or a bit out of spite. That was before he went home, though. Before what he went through with Alma, fighting Allen blindly...
Stupid beansprout had to go and run off. He's definitely his master's student.]

"Who's gone?"
A silly question when he knows there's only one person that Cross would willingly come back across the river to help.
And the pencil falls from his hand, chair clatters to the floor as he stands and the door bangs against the wall as he yanks it open.]
