Calisto could totally be either his real mother or just fill the role. If you'd like. I think either are very plausible.

Oooh, that would be lovely. Either would work, but given that I'm not seeing that much of a family resemblance (and I like leaving the boy something to angst over), she might do better just filling that role, if that works for you.
