I'm back, baby!

And better than ever :) Today was a really good day at work!

Well, maybe 'better than ever' is an exaggeration - my throat is still sore, but at least I'm not so fucking tired anymore! In fact, I didn't even nap in the afternoon yesterday - which I almost always do, because Saturday lunches are usually quite heavy and even though I sleep until late, it's kind of hard to stay awake after a big lunch.

But after bailing early from work on Friday, I spent most of the afternoon and the evening in bed catching up, and then on Saturday we went to visit my sister Roni, who recently moved to a much better apartment in Be'er-Sheva. Her previous house was quite a dump, and very cluttered and dusty. Add her two dogs and cat, and the place was practically dangerous. The last time I went to visit her and slept over, I got the worst fucking allergy ever. I felt like I was having an asthma attack.

Her new place is much better. More air, more light, less dust. And a garden! Her animals are so happy :) She also has a boyfriend, who's told her he loves her and they're so so cute together ♥ She hadn't had a serious boyfriend in a very long time, the two biggest reasons being her lack of a personal life and a work addiction, and also her awful house. The new place is fucking awesome. And the boyfriend is quite nice :) He's one of a set of triplets! XD

Since I was so high fucked up sick last week, I didn't even do my Glee review or say anything about 6B, so here goes :)

Glee 2x21 was kind of blah. I'd guessed it would be Jean who had died, and while I did tear up several times during the episode, it was cheap tearjerking. The auditions were pretty awesome though - Santana's Back to Black was fucking brilliant, and Mercedes' Try A Little Tenderness was also great, once I got into it. Kurt's Some People was hilarious XD I wasn't so impressed by Rachel's Funny Girl, but I did like the story around it - her conflicting emotions for Jesse and Finn; Finn breaking up with Quinn and going to get back with Rachel, only to see her kissing Jesse... argh. Seriously, though, I fully believe that Finchel is endgame. Can't wait for Nationals!!!!!!!11!!1!

Wednesday!Sketching Course was 50-50. I scored a really great parking spot, which boosted my ego a bit, and in the course we had two 'stations' to sketch - female items (a lace-and-satin camisole, a flower pin, string of pearls, ballet flat, a clutch, scales (LOL!)) and male items (a fedora, a belt, checkered boxers, T-shirt, guitar, hookah, deoderant). I connected much more with the male items - fuck it, T-shirts are fun, anyone can play guitar, and fedoras look better on me than they do on guys :P (See icon!)

We sketched with charcoal, which I'm slowly warming up to. I get kind of cringy when i smudge it with my fingers, because it gets in all the fingerprint creases and also into my tiny little scars from years of blood-testing. And generally I hate getting dirty, even if it's while doing art. But oh well. The sketch came out pretty well:

I didn't even photograph the female items sketch, because I really didn't connect with them and the sketch came out sort of half-assed XD Our assignment is to take a scene from a black-and-white film and sketch a part of it, using lots of light and dark and dramatic contrasts. Should be fun. Maybe I'll use a scene from a Hitchcock :)

On Thursday I wore a dress! I've been waiting for it to be warm enough to wear a dress (outside of salsa parties) for AGES.

I know it might seem weird that I make a special mention whenever I wear a dress, so here's why: when I was younger, I loved to wear dresses. But once I got my insulin pump, I was faced with the problem of where to put it when wearing a dress. Usually I clip it onto the waistband of my jeans/skirt, or put it in a pocket. Not viable options with a dress XD I have a kind of thigh-holster, but it's uncomfortable and sometimes shows under flowy dresses. So the solution? It's in my bra :D Still, it's not very comfortable, and it only works with dresses that aren't low-cut in the front. So I only wear dresses occasionally, and every occasion is special to me :)

So in 6B we showed our homework, which was to make a 3D sculpture inspired by a 2D piece by an abstract artist. I chose Robert Delaunay's Rhythme 1 (http://prdhotelart.com/products-page/classical-modernism/rhytme-i/) and Rhythme Coleur (http://prdhotelart.com/products-page/classical-modernism/rhytme-couleur/.) It had to be monochromatic, so that we'd focus on the shapes and the flow of the piece rather than the colours, which are quite important in abstract art.

Here's the finished piece:

It's made out of cardboard, glued with hot-glue and painted with acrylic. I finished all my white on this, gotta buy some more XD I'm really really pleased with this assignment!!!! I worked my ass off on it and became sick in the process, and I got a really good review on it from the teacher and everyone in my class was really impressed XD

The other people in the class had some pretty cool stuff, too - funnily enough, two of them chose Giacomo Balla, who I almost chose too XD Our lesson that day was on colour, and we worked with acrylic. I had the easiest time because I worked with acrylic all through my high-school and also did various crafts after that. I know how acrylic behaves and I'm pretty adept at mixing :) I was pretty shocked at how little the others knew, though! Stuff like leaving a paintbrush out to dry with paint still on it, or cleaning a paintbrush between different colours, and mixing on the palate rather than on the paper - real basic stuff, that once I tipped them on, they all went "Ohhhhh, riiiiiiight." And on the one hand I felt all proud and knowledgable, but on the other hand I felt like a know-it-all again. Hence the 'I need to learn to shut up tag' lol.

Our homework assignment is to choose an object and paint it accurately, and then paint it again with different colours and composition, make it into something different. I've chosen a daruma doll (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daruma_doll) and I painted it today - pretty pleased with how it turned out, but I have no idea what I'll do for the 'different' painting of it XD

Anyway, on to work! I got there today with renewed energy and jumped right into it. My boss (the manager of the call center) wants me to start teaching the new arrivals! It's insane. I've only worked there for two months (not even that!) and he wants me to brief them and show them the ropes. I'm scared as all fuck about it, but it's also a huge complement. They seem to think very highly of me - they've assigned me more important jobs like handling payments and updating credit card information - stuff aside from just answering phone calls and signing parents up for the project.

I sat in on my boss's teach with one guy today and then sort of briefed the other guy when he arrived. It went pretty well, and even though I rambled a lot, I think I did okay. And I'm confident that I'll learn as I teach :) Plus a lot of what I don't teach them that first day, they'll learn on the job itself, like we all do. I've also started functioning almost like a shift-manager myself XD Half the girls (there are finally a few guys there too) at the call center come to me with questions when the actual shift-manager or our boss is busy XD It was so weird today, 3 new girls arrived, and since they'd seen everyone asking me questions all day, they just went along with it and came to me for help!!! It was hilarious.

I ended up working an extra hour, but I did a good job and I helped a lot of people and I signed up 3 parents! :D That's 3 bonuses for me :D

In the afternoon my best friend H called. I haven't seen her in over two weeks - we couldn't meet the previous weekend and the last one I was feeling too tired, and we've barely talked in all that time. Turns out, she's been busy! She's started dating a boy!! This is pretty insane for her; I may be a 22-year old virgin, but she's never even dated properly! She's never even kissed a boy - until this weekend :D They met at an event they were both working (as waiters for the catering) and went out to the promenade in Tel-Aviv on Friday. She said she really likes him and he's very sweet and I'm so happy for her I squeed out loud ^_^

real life, fashion/accessories, 6b (design prep program), health, my family and other animals, lol, i need to learn to shut up, self-image, glee, work, fuck yes, friends
