Wow, now that IS a nice coincidence! :D Say "Shalom" to Yasmin for me :)
As a matter of fact, I appreciate it when people tell me they're not vegetarians simply because they like meat too much to give it up, rather than trying to convince me that pigs and cows were made to be eaten by humans. .:headdesk:.
Hmmm. Well. I don't think that pigs and cows were "made" to be eaten by humans; life on Earth just evolved that way. In some alternate universe (which I fully believe in, btw) things might have turned out different - humans might have not evolved and other animals might have assumed the 'top dog' position over us :P
A guy I used to date once quoted Stephen King to me: "What Darwin was too polite to say, my friends, is that we came to rule the Earth not because we were the smartest, or even the meanest, but because we have always been the craziest, most murderous motherfuckers in the jungle."
And well... I must say I agree XD
I think eating meat is good, both for our health (I'm anemic, lol, gotta eat meat or else I'll have to double my iron supplements dose XD ) and because... well, this is kinda difficult to explain, but it's like... if humans didn't kill animals for meat and for furs, then animals like sheep and cattle would have probably grown too numerous. I know that the exact opposite thing is happening now in the world - we're breeding these animals and using them up faster than is natural, in pretty cruel conditions for the animals themselves, and causing great damage to the earth and the atmosphere in the process.
Sometimes I really wish technology hadn't evolved so much. Sometimes I wish we still lived in small villages and got from place to place by walking or riding horses and carts, and communicated with people via letters, and that we had much simpler lives and simpler jobs that were all based on what nature gave us. I wish I didn't sit staring at a computer half my day and didn't drive a car that uses gas and spits exhaust fumes, and that instead of calling people and trying to sell them a book-loaning project, I were a seamstress or a milkmaid or a baker's daughter. Ooh, that actually makes sense - my grandfather was a baker :)
...ahem. Yikes. I'll forgive your rant if you'll forgive mine? :)
