Sore throat. Have started The Fatal Shore.

Well looks like Victoria's flu cases are keeping the WHO on the verge of declaring a state of pandemic... not surprising since this is the middle of our ordinary flu season, and Victoria's June weather is a cold wet rainy pit of winter despair as per usual. I'm wondering whether to go get antibiotics now to clear up a bit of throat gunge I've been experiencing for about a week. I'd usually wait this stuff out unless it gets bad, but maybe if I leave it a few weeks and both it and the public health situation gets worse when all those Victorians start infecting the rest of us, I'll get caught up in all the fuss and paranoia and might be in-home quarantined. It doesn't seem like a great time to have a relatively ordinary URTI, right?

I read the first fifty pages or so of The Fatal Shore. I'm seriously considering writing up chapter by chapter summaries and reviews. The only thing stopping me is I'm not sure anyone would really give a damn about reading said summaries and reviews. Maybe I should start looking for history focused communities on LJ.
