Tomorrow, And Hope and what that can bring!!!

I got picked at the caucus to represent Obama at the county Democratic convention. I am very excited it is kinda cool to be able to do this. It definitely makes one feel they are more a part of the process. I could only wish that my one small vote or part of this process will help him achieve the Democratic nomination. One can only hope since while he might not be the best for all of us I think he is the best that one can hope for. Not to mention that there is the hope that he can really change things. To hope that maybe as a country we can be more than we are. That maybe we could have someone who could redefine our country and maybe make some changes for the best. The scary thing is that I watch Sicko this evening and I realized that on some level our obsession with choice leaves us very few choices. Are we trading who we are and what our society is supposed to be in this overwhelming fear that we feel. That our basic hope to have others do unto us as we would do unto them, is being destroyed by the fear that our government has placed inside of all of us. That everyone is always out to get us, or take advantage of us? I tend to think that would happen anyway, what I don’t get is we are ¼ to ½ a socialized state anyway. But why not have the benefits of that? I say do some things to limit social services, I say have welfare to help those but not be a permanent support. It seems to me that society should help elevate one not encourage stagnation. That is why I think that we spend too much on people and not giving them what they need to become more. Hell if even 1/3 of the money people get in earned income credit was turned around and put toward schools or health care I think it would go a long way in solving a lot of the problems in the country. I am not saying that people don’t use that money to better themselves, but I think most would be better off if that money was put to the uses of education, i.e. sending their children to college or even educating them better at the lower grade levels, or health care, i.e. switching to a national health care system which dentists and regular doctor visits are covered. I would rather the money I pay to the government go those things. Hell half of the things they want to do with our federal government is not their purview. Really all they are supposed to do is handle our external dealings with the world and our military how have we reached such a point that they should tell individual states what they can and cannot do. I think it is the religious right that has perpetuated this idea. Things like who should be allowed to marry and so forth. I suppose in this day and age that there has to be some sort of federal involvement so that there is a uniform whole, but why should they be able to tell another state what they can do? I think this boils down to my issues with the government. There should be no income tax, that should be up to the individual states, and well the states should contribute to keep the federal government running. But the majority of things like educational funding and road work should be up to the state government, and should not depend on the federal government. I guess that we need to move things more into our own communities than to depend on somegreat outside force. I think 9/11 has taught me that and everything to follow that. I just don’t think that I truly realized it till I stood there and was picked to be a representative for the democratic party. Why are we so dependant on the federal system I asked myself, and you know the answer that came to me? It was because they had made us so. We have lapsed into the idea of not having it would be horrible we can imagine nothing else in a way. So this is my hope for my generation and those to come, that the states take back their power they began to lose so many years ago and have been voluntarily been giving up. Oh well here is to the hope that something good will come out of this election. If Obama does not gain the nomination McCain has proved that you can go back and win a primary, and a nomination. So here is a hope a hope that things can change, maybe not today but in the future. That I can wait for that future, I suppose that is where the powers to be are wrong they may win today but I can wait till tomorrow. I suppose that is how things go we can all find the patience to wait till the dawning of tomorrow.
