cake, cake, cake!
Wow, I'm posting a lot... maybe I'll come up with something interesting eventually ;)
Got up at 5.30am to drive my parents to the station - they're going on holiday overseas for the first time in years. Am starting to droop now (knew I should have gone back to bed).
As promised, here's a pic of my sister's wedding cake.
The groom's mum baked the fruit cake and I decorated it using sugarpaste. The card thing resting on top was done in royal icing and it was a replica of the invitations sis and hub sent out. It actually had their names painted (in black food colouring) across the top half, but I've photoshopped that out. Behind that in lilac is the date of the wedding. The stripyness went all around the sides of the cake, making the whole thing look like a box with a white cloth on top , tied with a ribbon.
I can't tell you how relieved I was that it all worked out. I ended up doing it three days before, and I'd never used sugarpaste before. If I'd screwed it up, I don't think I'd be here now.
