The Golden Compass
Well this evening after the boy returned from sailing we went to see the Golden Compass
which i was hoping would be better than the less that mediocre Simpsons movie and the yawn worthy Evan Almighty that I saw the night before.... I was wrong! TBH i was totally expecting more from Newline the makers of lord of the rings, It's obvious they've poured millions into the special effects and onderful landscape but it just wasn't captivating.
The story didn't flow and was totally disjointed and I for one was hoping the movie would change the book and kill the ever so annoying actress who played Lyra, her indecision on whether she was a posh madam or a cockey tramp was unbearable! as movie adaptations of book I feel that they should be able to stand alone without some having to have read the book first this didn't, the boy looked entirely confused throughout the whole thing! The only redeeming part of the whole movie was the fantasic icebears with Ian McKellen stealing the show, a very cute rat and ferret, and the witches were pretty cool too though not having any real part excpet risking their lives at the end after a quick chat to Lyra 10 mins previously
The weekend on the whole has been a flop due to me feeling like death warmed up. On the plus side the rats have got lots of squishes I've almost finished Lazy-Witch shop and I've ingested a plethora of medication and had countless baths...
hopefully I'll get some much wanted reading done tonight
oh yes and its back to work tomorrow.. *sigh*
