It's...the one that puts a memory up on the Network, isn't it? I can't think of any place in the City that looks like that, and usually when one sees odd things like this on a random weekend like the one we're having, it means it's a memory of some sort.
Oh, I see. I only thought so because it looked as though the stairs were magic, leading from one place to another in an instant.
Oh, is it a dream, then? How odd. There's a curse that tampers with dreams, as well, but that one has people walking in and out of them, not just watching them.
I used to have this dream almost every night. To the point that I could remember how it went exactly. The details would change sometimes, but everything else stayed the same. In that way, you could say it's a memory.
Something that contradicts itself. In this case, the staircase is something that can't possibly exist in three dimensions. It's based off of an optical illusion someone from my world devised. I've always been fascinated by that kind of thing.
I suppose you could, yes. When you put it like that, it does seem rather more like a memory than a dream, it's true. Well, I'm very sorry you've found it put up on the Network like this, but on the bright side of things, at least it's only a dream? This sort of curse seems to target unpleasant things, most often, but a dream isn't so very unpleasant at all.
Well, it can't without magic, at least. But if you don't have any, then I suppose you're right, it couldn't exist at all. It does sound quite odd, though.
As a dream it was more repetitive than anything. Not really good or bad. I guess you could say I got off lucky with this curse.
I could always show you how the trick works, if you're curious. I'd have to do it in person, though. It's the kind of thing that's best explained with a visual example.
Oh, it's not that I dislike them, exactly, though it is a bit unusual, the...pants and so on. I've managed all right this weekend, but I'll be glad to get back into my own things again once it's over.

[ Not entirely true. Yay deflecting the question. ]

[And now she feels slightly guilty for looking--and for wanting to ask. But eventually curiosity wins out.]
I do hope you'll forgive my asking, but...was that magic?

And no, it wasn't magic. Magic doesn't exist in my world.

It's a paradox, actually.

A paradox?

I'd like that very much, if you wouldn't mind!

I said I'd drop by this week, so I'll bring a diagram with me when I do. It's a pretty simple illusion, once you see it on paper.

Good, by then I'll be out of this suit and back into something a bit more proper. That sounds just lovely.
